Google Android in 46 Countries

Android has now expanded its long armed reach and influence outside of the U.S. market to 46 countries, up from just 25 a few short weeks ago. The Android market has also introduced support for paid apps in its Canada and Australia markets as well on top of the rapid growth of free apps already available in the marketplace. Some of the countries joining the Android movement are Brazil, Israel, and Thailand. I wonder where they will venture next?

I’m glad to hear that Android is gaining popularity, but I’m afraid many people might get disappointed. It’s not enough to expand when the Market is kind of useless to many people. Living in Denmark means no access to paid apps and while my HTC Hero is a fantastic phone I’m often frustrated with the Market. More than half of Europe is still without paid apps – and not everybody is ready to keep contacting developers and trying to find alternative ways the way I do. But I’m getting tired of it myself.
I just want quality apps to go with my phone instead of endless scrolling between sexy wallpapers and Japanese girls.

Australia has had paid apps since at least August 2009 when I got my Android!
