Features:
Go Weather for Android is a stylish weather application for Android. Go Weather for Android allows you to program in multiple locations for weather tracking, has video wallpapers for various weather conditions, an easy to access weekly forecast, a skinnable clock and weather widget, temperature notifications, and battery monitoring. All of these features attempt to consolidate applications like Weatherbug and Beautiful Widgets into one unique and stylish application.
Go Weather works like many other weather tracking applications and tracks weather at your current location as well as the weather at any locations added by the user. The main screen of Go Weather is the weather at your current location, displayed with an HD video wallpaper. In order to view the weather at another of your programmed locations, all you need to do is swipe your finger across the screen and the application will load your next location.
Each location is displayed in the same stylish manner as an HD video wallpaper. If it is a nice day outside and slightly windy the application will display a video of the sun shining and a windmill being blown by the wind in the background. If it is raining the application will display raindrops over the screen like on a windshield of a car. For each type of weather there is a different animation. The video wallpapers for the application are highly detailed and very visually appealing, which really creates the stylish ambiance for this application.
Along the bottom of the screen is displayed the weekly forecast. Each day shows a symbol of the weather for the day along with the days predicted temperature. You can scroll left and right on this part of the screen in order to see more days of the week. To see a more detailed forecast for the week you can pull this portion of the screen up with your finger. Underneath will be a normal detailed forecast for the week.
Go Weather has the unique ability to monitor the battery life of your device and disable weather updates in the event that the battery drops too low. This prevents you from having your device suddenly die from weather updates and allows you to keep the application’s battery usage under control.
Go Weather also features a skinnable weather and clock widget with a similar concept to Beautiful Widgets. The default style to the Go Weather widget is very similar to the style of the weather widget clock on the LG Revolution. When you click on the weather featured on the widget in launches the Go Weather application and shows the weather at your current location. If you touch the clock it launches your device’s default clock and alarm application.
Unfortunately the skins for this widget are only available from the Go Development Team and so there is a very limited skin selection. The video wallpapers for weather forecasts are skinnable from the Go Development Team as well.
Finally, Go Weather also allows you to turn on and off temperature notifications as well as weather alerts. This allows you to see weather warnings in your area as well as to track the temperature outside in almost real time.

Usefulness:
Go Weather is useful as a stylish weather tracking application to replace the less visually appealing interface of competitors like Weatherbug and Weather Channel. It allows you to see unique and interesting visual forecasts at multiple locations, while giving you the ability to disable itself if consuming too much battery and keeps you up to date with important weather warnings through alerts.
Go Weather is also useful as a stylish replacement to your device’s clock widget and is free unlike Beautiful Widgets. Though it does have an extremely limited library of downloadable skins. Unfortunately, Go Weather does not have the option of an hour by hour forecast. So for those that wish a more detailed view of the weather Go Weather may just not be enough.
Ease of Use:
Go Weather is extremely easy to use which is a strong credit to it’s streamlined interface. All of the menus and important features are easy to find and just a touch away. The transition from location to location and to view weekly forecasts was extremely intuitive and the application felt simple to operate despite it’s many features.
Probably the most difficult part of operating the application was the need to download all the Go Weather clock skins from the Android Market. With alternative clock applications like Beautiful Widgets and Fancy Widget all you need to do to download a skin is click it’s picture in the application. With Go Weather you need to select the skin name in the application to go to it’s location and the market and download it. This process takes longer than competitors and prevents you from seeing a preview of the widget or skin in application.
Frequently Used:
I personally do not use Go Weather because I find Weatherbug to be more informative about the forecast than Go Weather and because I prefer paid clock alternatives like Fancy Widgets and Beautiful Widgets to the free clock of Go Weather.
However, if you are currently not using an application to track the weather and are using the stock Android clock. You will find this application to be a welcome replacement to the bore of the stock Android widgets and will find the weather forecasts to be sufficient and visually attractive.
Interface:
The interface of Go Weather is extremely easy to use and very visually attractive. I have not seen any weather applications with such a stylish and customizable interface to date. My complaints are with it’s lack of hourly detailed forecast and the way skinning is handled in the application. When these problems are corrected I think this application would be a force to be reckoned with.
