GO SMS is by far my favorite replacement messaging application that is available in the Android Market. It features so many customizable options that will guarantee you the ability to have the perfect messaging application. These customizations include everything from themes to conversation style, individual contact settings to multiple user defined settings plus so very much more.

One of my favorite features is the individual contact settings. I love having the ability to set custom notifications per contact, modify my signature, and change the conversation style. By having this ability you can easily tell who the message is from without the need to look at your device.

Another interesting feature that you can take advantage of is the multiple plug-ins that are available as free download in the market. The Facebook chat plug-in makes it possible to receive and send Facebook chat messages and since these messages are sent through the Facebook network it does not effect your SMS messages at all. In addition to that plug-in is the Emoji plug-in. This one gives you the ability to send unique emoticons to your friends and family that have an Android device. Of course they need the plug-in installed also to be able to view them.

Android Advice™: How to Remove Duplicate Notifications when GO SMS Pro is Installed

Go the Settings » Managing Applications » browse for Messaging » Uncheck Default settings.
When you send a new text message, check the “Use by default for this action” checkbox option then choose GO SMS Pro.

Frequently Used:

If you are a constant texter like I am you will be using this application non stop; and with the pop-up notifications, quick reply, and quick text you will be able to text more than you ever have before.

Interface:

  Just hold down the person you sent text messages too for a few seconds and then pick BACKUP….I just can’t figure out how to restore them.

    MENU…then pick the SERVICES tab. Then pick the UMBRELLLA. Then pick either BACK UP or RESTORE TAB.

I need to warn you guys about this go sms pro app. It looks nice and pretty, however, it sometimes texts other people. This happened to me twice and just one today. I text my brother but my friend got it. But when I look on my brother’s text box with his name, it said it went through to him. But when I “view details” in my brother’s text box, it was a different number. Very strange. And so my friend text me and told me I text the wrong person although the text box it went through. Becareful! especially if you are texting about someone, it might accidently send it to someone you don’t want to know about. I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime.

  Mine is sending text messages to people that I never wrote, or combining half of my text with something else that i never typed up. This is the most unsafest text messaging i have ever seen. I can only imagine what is being said to others that I dont know about. man its kind of scary if you think about it.

  Go to where you enter the code and they’ll send you the password once you answer your security question. When setting it up it gives the option to send your password to your email address. Perhaps you should agree this time.

  It has never charged me! As a matter of fact if you and the person you are chatting with both use this app then it saves you from charges by your provider. Though many people have unlimited plans it can be handy for those who don’t. There was a question on here about data charges but I didn’t experience that either but check your providers data use before you message then check your data use after to be sure.

I have a problem. Last night I disabled Go SMS Pro. Today I installed it again, but in my folder “Private box” I don’t have my private sms, like before, and also I didn’t have a backup. Is a chance to find those sms?

Lori D, I deleted mine too, i restored it by deleting the whole app, including the file (connect to computer and delete) then re download the app. hope this helps!

I came on here to find new instructions for sending scheduled messages. I found it while looking up someone else’s question! (Good Karma) for others who ask the same:
Go to your Messages page and press the icon on the top left corner of this page. Go to 7th box marked Scheduled to send a message at a certain time and you can set it to repeat as well.
