Gin Rummy Free is the third card game from AI Factory, and provides a highly polished interface that runs smoothly on all handsets. This game introduces drag and drop card play in addition to touch and go. As ever the game intelligence is finely tuned to provide a good range of opponents to give both the beginner and experienced player a good match. A key new feature for this product is CPU player “style”.

Features:
Gin Rummy Free is one of the better card-style games I’ve played on the Android platform. When you start out, you can go straight into a game, or you can go into an FAQ, that will not only teach you what the various parts of the app are, it also has a section on the basics of playing Gin Rummy.
When you start a game, you can choose your opponent. By default, it starts off with the hardest, which would probably be my only, extremely minor, complaint about the app. It’s easy to scroll through the various AI players, and each one gets a star rating for difficulty level, as well as a short description of their play strategy. You can start out with an easy, reckless player to get a feel for the game and how it works, then move up in difficulty as you go. I really liked that the game keeps track of your stats over all your games, so you can pull up a list to see how you’ve done against all the players.
As far as gameplay itself goes, it’s very smooth. There is several ways to select, move and discard your cards, which is a nice touch. And there is a button that will tell it to automatically sort your cards into the best sets your current hand has to offer, or you can do it manually. This is another great feature for anyone new to the game, since it will allow you to learn in the earlier, easier games what to look for in a good hand.

Fun Factor:
Card game apps can either be great or a snooze, and there isn’t much in between. This one falls in the great category, and was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. The different AIs that force you to use different strategies really adds an element of challenge, and being able to see your stats as you go gives you a great incentive to keep trying to perfect your game.
Addictive:
I didn’t expect this game to be addictive, but it seriously is. I lost about an hour when I first started playing, before I even realized it. I had never played Gin Rummy before, so the FAQ gave me the foundations, and I was able to really learn and enjoy the game as I played. Now it is unfortunate that I’m losing many more hours in this game. 
Graphics:
This is a card game, so the graphics aren’t photo-realistic, but they don’t need to be. Everything runs very smoothly, and it’s obvious the developers really put their time and effort into the areas where it counts the most.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The soundtrack in the game is pretty standard for this type – nothing special, and honestly I ended up muting it after a short time. But while it didn’t add anything, it also didn’t detract anything from the game.
