AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Access Google Documents account
- Upload/Download files from Android phone to Google Documents
Cons
- Cannot edit all file types, only Word and text file, can view PDFs
- Cannot open documents from SD Card or emails with GDocs
- Not the most intuitive
Features:
GDocs Android App is a simple tool to access and edit documents in your Google Docs account. You can edit Word and Notepad documents, however you cannot natively edit Power Point and Excel documents within the app (but can within browser yet difficult on the small screen) but can view PDFs. Although the app is limited in editing document types, when coupled with other Android apps such as Documents To Go, you have a powerful combo to upload/download your Google Documents and edit them on your Android phone.
To clarify; a user emailed us asking why you cannot open documents from SD Card or emails with GDocs. The app is meant as a synchronization tool for documents in your Google Documents and can edit those documents only, GDocs Android app cannot edit any document from email or SD Card. You must first upload them to Google Documents via the app to do so.

Usefulness:
Very useful to those who use Google Documents seeking a solution to view and edit them on the go.
Ease of Use:
GDocs Android app is not the most intuitive, such as tapping on the document once downloads it locally, tapping twice after downloading opens for edit. There is color coding for document types (i.e. blue for text documents Word and text, green for Excel spreadsheets, orange for Power Point, red for PDF), yet it gets confusing once you download a Word document the color code turns green. Graphic icons would be great justice here.
Frequently Used:
User dependent, would be more appreciated amongst current Google Documents users who have another powerful document editing suite installed on their phone.
Interface:
Nothing fancy, simple but gets the job done.
