Gameloft Releases 10 HD Games for Android Smartphones

Gameloft, developer of downloadable games, announced 10 HD games aimed at higher end Android smartphones (like Sony Ericsson XPeria X10, HTC Desire, HTC Incredible, Motorola DROID, Motorola Motoroi or Nexus One). The catch, however, these games will be sold outside Google’s Android Market and sold directly from their website at $4.99 USD each.

Luckily your favorite Android App Review website will have all the games reviewed soon with videos, so you can virtually try it before you buy it!

Update: it has been extremely difficult to actually buy any of the games outside the Android Market. We’ve also heard of many other consumers with the same problem. The purchase page has since been removed!

Hero of Sparta
Gangstar: West Coast Hustle
Dungeon Hunter
Real Football 2010
N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance
Modern Combat: Sandstorm

I bought Asphalt 5 and Assassin’s Creed for my Nexus One yesterday and did not face any problem at all. Though I wasn’t able to buy from my phone, I was able to select the game and make the payment from my desktop. Once paid, I received an SMS on my phone with a link to the file. Everything was smooth!

I’ve tried using some of the gameloft titles on my samsung vibrant such as Nova, Hero of Sparta, and the gangstar game. They seemed to work at first but a few minutes in my phone started freaking out, the game would stop, my phone would go black and the only aspect of my phone that responded were the softkeys but they would do nothing beyond lighting up. I had to remove the battery to restart my phone and even on multiple restarts my phone would load really slow and then go black again. I found that I had a race against time to go into the application menu and uninstall the games before the phone would go black and lock up. After numerous tries I finally got all of the games uninstalled from my phone and after a final restart the phone started to act normally again. I contacted gameloft with the issues I was having, they sent me two links to download updated versions of the hero of sparta and gangstar game that they claimed shouldn’t cause problems. I redownloaded those specific titles, installed and, like before, they seemed to be working fine at first but they still eventually caused my phone to brick on me forcing me to, once again, have to quickly uninstall them as my phone was loading its usual software from a hard restart. My hope is that gameloft will work harder to fix the problems and maybe when my vibrant finally gets the 2.2 OS update it will be better suited to run these more high-end games.

I’ve bought Gangstar : West Coast Hustle and I played on my Samsung Galaxy Tab. First of all it seems alright but after a few minutes suddenly the game was some kind like hang and i could do nothing with my samsung tab. I try to did a hard reset on my device and try to play the game one more time after that. but after a few minutes it happened again. I think it’s some kind of bug on this game. please fix the game and give me an update so i can play normally. I really like this game.
