For those of you in the world of rooting, your well aware of the popularity of the common ROM Cyanogenmod. Many users of HTC, Nexus, Motorola, even the Nook Color have been fortunate enough to utilize this ROM. Cyanogenmod 7 currently sports Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) which is unavailable on many of the devices using manufacturer-installed software. Samsung Galaxy S users have requested time and time again to receive the ability to use Cyanongenmod, and their prayers have been answered.
Cyanogenmod 7 now supports the Samunsg i9000, T-Mobile Vibrant, and AT&T Captivate (minus a few bugs). There are a few other Samsung devices that you can read about on their wiki.Rooting and installing custom ROMS bring a lot of added functionality but also can be dangerous for uneducated and inexperienced users who try to accomplish unlocking the power of their device.
Not sure how to root? Check out Cyanogenmod’s website or XDA-Developers first before moving forward with the task itself.
