Galaxy Note available for AT&T February 19th, pre-orders start February 5th for $300

Debuted at AT&T’s developer summit at CES 2012 was the Samsung Galaxy Note hybrid of a doohickey; being part phone, part small tablet with a stylus pen. Today AT&T announced it will start pre-orders February 5th and it will be available on February 19th for $299.99 with two year contract.

The Galaxy Note has a 5 inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen (1280×800), signature S Pen for writing notes anywhere on the screen, capable of AT&T’s 4G LTE mobile broadband network, ships in carbon blue and ceramic white, and is a functional phone as well. Have had one of these for a week now and love the large screen size, voice dialing and sms seem adequate, gmail sync is good, and good battery life for such a large screened device. I would marry the thing if it would only just sync to MS Exchange corporate email servers. As far as I can tell from the web, nobody has yet succeeded in this, even with the touchdown third party add on. I’m not sure if the problem is with the device specifically or with the 2.3.6 Gingerbread Android OS build. Only last week, I did succeed in syncing one of my company’s sightly older and smaller Galaxy Note S with MS Exchange without any add on 3rd party applications, but not so with this innovative new tablet hybrid. The folks at touchdown appear to be stumped, are ignoring my emails to tech support (probably because they don’t have an answer). Any suggestions would be appreciated. ATT allowed me to swap out the device in order to rule out a hardware defect; I will report back on the outcome of the new hardware swap if it does any good.
