G4. Now you can overload on all the awesome that is G4 whenever you want. With the G4 App you can get the latest, up to the minute gaming news, insider game reviews and cheats and a ridiculous amount of videos from your favorite G4 shows. If you consider yourself a gamer and a fan of G4 this is one app you can’t live without! (For all Android versions)

Update: Almost immediately after posting, the good people over at G4 updated their app.  Now the previously annoying issues on 2.2 are fixed!  Thank you, G4 for proving again why I love you so much!

Features:

I play games.  I have a PS3 (the 60 GB of course…need those PS1 games), an XBox 360 (old Elite), a modded Wii (gotta play those foreign games), a Dreamcast, a modded PS2, and a Nintendo 64 hooked up to my TV right now.  Of course I also have a PSP, a PSP Go, a Nintendo DSi, a GameBoy Advanced, and a GameBoy Color.  Yes, I am a girl and I love my video games.  Therefore, I watch G4.  If you have a gaming console and cable or satellite TV tuning into G4 at least a few times a week is almost a requirement at this point.  Now, you can tune in on your phone.

After the iPhone had a G4 app for quite a while now, someone over at G4 realized that Android is amazing and that we needed to have an app as well.  Thank you!  Now I can find out the top news, watch clips from shows, cheat past that part I’m stuck on, and get reviews right on my phone whenever I want from a source I know has a great reputation.  When I find great information that I think everyone should know you can post it straight to Facebook or email it too your closest buddies.  But while it is a great app there are two failures that need to be fixed NOW!

The content is great, but with two bugs that effect the apps functionality, I am kind of upset about the app as a whole.  When you are on the main news page, when you click on the story it actually opens the story below it.  Also, when you go back to the home screen from the app and try to return to the app, it will not open.  I had to go into my task killer, kill the process, and then reload the app.  Now these only happen with Android 2.2 (Froyo) so it will only effect a small percentage of people, but to those of us with 2.2, it’s sort of annoying!

Usefulness:

I’m rarely home and when I am I’m working and don’t always have time to know what’s going on in the gaming world.  Now I can keep up on my news no matter where I am all in one place.

Ease of Use:

The menu is easy as pie.  Want to see videos?  Click on Videos.  Want to know cheats for a game you’re reading about?  Click on Cheats.  No complicated 10 click away functions here.

Frequently Used:

This depends on how hard core of a gamer you are.  If you need to know everything that’s going on all the time, you’ll use this app all the time.  If you just want to know when one game in your favorite series is releasing, you’ll use it less often.  Me personally?  I’m using this app constantly!

Interface:

The news, reviews, and games is laid out in easy to find columns.  The videos look awesome.  The menus are intuitive.  What else could you ask for?
