Freeze! – play this totally addictive Labyrinth-style game Install

Freeze! is an innovative physics-based puzzle game where you guide a eyeball around an atmospheric fantasy world. The aim for each level is to guide him to a portal. His unique skill is the ability to freeze and be resistant to gravity. By rotating the levels you can carefully steer him towards the end of each stage. If you like games which are independent, original and addictive as hell, this one is most definitely for you.

Price: Free plus In-app Purchases of later worlds.

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Challenging physics-based gameplay!
  • Lush monochrome graphics!
  • Awesomely atmospheric sound track!
  • Loads of levels to play!

Cons

  • Steep learning curve.

Features:

Freeze! is a sumptuously visualized and deeply ethereal indie puzzle game. It plays somewhat like Labyrinth (or any of these tilt-controlled maze games) in that you have to guide an object towards a hole- whereas in Freeze! you move an anonymous eyeball character towards an escape portal. It does differ from this genre of games in that there is no tilt control. Instead you rotate the level itself and the eyeball reacts accordingly.

The game is fantastically easy to play, but very challenging to complete. Levels quickly become very tough and might take some patience to complete. There are 25 free levels to try, which constitutes the first world, plus 10 bonus levels if you are willing to rate and review the app in the Google Play Store. After this you can make in-app purchases of later worlds.

Freeze! is impeccably designed and the graphics are incredibly rich and detailed. While the colour-scheme is decidedly monochrome, the animations are wonderfully detailed and look fantastic as you play. This is backed up by a great music score which adds considerably to the atmosphere of the game itself. Freeze! is competed by the physics-engine itself, which is brilliantly realized and spot-on in terms of accuracy.

The game is a rewarding freemium title where you can play up to 35 levels absolutely free and without ads. If you enjoy it and progress you can make in-app purchases of later worlds (these cost $0.99 each). If you enjoy engrossing puzzle games, and certainly if you prefer physics-based gaming, this will be right up your street. It’s not always easy and you are required sometimes to solve relatively complex escape routes against a variety of deadly obstacles- but the result is a rewarding and captivating game that is hard to put down.

Fun Factor:

Completing a level gives you a real sense of achievement as they can be extremely tricky. While it might be frustrating at times, finding that portal and finishing the level is sublimely rewarding. It’s a game you might often need to be patient with, but is thoroughly enjoyable regardless.

Addictive:

Highly! It has a strong ‘one-more-go’ factor that is very hard to resist. There are lots of levels and your times are collected as you progress. This means even if you finish the game, you might still want to go over finished levels to better your scores.

Graphics:

The graphics are starkly monochrome but still intensely detailed. The game seems to ‘breathe’ through the visuals and the effect is very impressive and engrossing for the player. While the aim of the it is to complete the level as fast as you can, it’s hard not to stop and take in all the animations.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

The music is remarkably beautiful and a little eerie at the same time. It works exceptionally well with both the graphics and the gameplay. Whereas you might often see games where one of these elements has been neglected, yet the balance is perfect in Freeze!
