Features:
Fort Courage is a new type of adventure tower defense game brought to us by Human Head Studios with stellar Xbox 360 and PC titles like Prey & Prey 2. This endeavor takes advantage of a little rascal’s imagination as he fell asleep in class and dreamed he and a friend snuck into either a monstrous lab, a fort within a dinosaur jungle, and a robot factory on Mars! All the while you are barricaded by whatever defense you found lying around like wooden crates. Waves of ghouls seem to attack you and it is your job to throw whatever you can find at them to stop them from breaching your defense and chasing you the heck out of there. You must earn coins to purchase awesome power-ups within the game which produce various effects plus weapons have their strengths and weakness. For example, the “Spread Shot” is affordable to buy with coins, fires multiple shots but not effective against armor. Speaking of weapons, let’s talk about player 1 & 2, which attack and use their weapons in two distinctive ways:
Player 1
This will be your main man as you tap the monster you want him to throw infinite pumpkins or fire rounds from big guns. As you eliminate waves you will see coins and various colored diamonds pop up, be sure to grab them as some give you a firing speed boost! Lastly, if you press and hold a player you execute a super attack.
Player 2
He has finite ammunition and throws it (so be sure to conserve when using him), by default his bang packs more powerful explosive punch than Player 1 as it can impact enemies in the area you throw. You tap to select and drag to throw your bombs, defense gates, land mines, etc. anticipating where the attackers will be as they advance forward rather than where they are. This will make for the most damage.
Fort Courage is fantastic for challenging you in not only firing from two different players but some weapons make you wait to recharge them or you’re keeping an eye on how much ammo you have left. As each odd level advances you are introduced to new foes of different characteristics. At the end of a world you duke it out with the boss. At the end of each level you can earn bonus coins based on; fastest time (beating your own time for a level), high number of gold coins collected, how much health you have remaining, or if your makeshift fort was untouched!
All of these coins are used to purchase new and/or upgrade weapons, power-ups and even new characters and skins. General upgrades are interesting and typically can only be used once per level, like the huge pumpkin that can destroy all in sight. When you upgrade a player’s weapon it does more damage, this is represented by the red icon with a number aside it, which means the percentage of damage per hit, or along with blue clock icon which represents how long it will take to recharge.
The gaming “threshold” pushes you more towards purchasing power-ups with coins in order to progress levels. Purchasing coins are done via GREE social gaming network but it sadly requires you to jump through a few hoops first by downloading their poorly rated Android app. It would have been ideal for the developers to make in-app purchases with Google Play.

Fun Factor:
Fort Courage is more challenging than fun, although there is some good times to be had defending your barricade. It is especially enjoyable as you earn enough coins to purchase some of the cool weapons.
Addictive:
The game has some addictive factors as it gets progressively challenging but it also can be slightly on the repetitive side. And the whole coin purchase with GREE incident may put some users off, as I know it put this user off.
Graphics:
The graphics alone are enough to download this game! You hold your device in portrait mode and are in an aerial third person shooter perspective glazing down on some awesome 3D graphics.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The music is an epic score of spooky fort courageousness. The rest of the sound effects are awesome too and fitting for the game. Of course the effects and background track can be muted in the Options menu.
