After downloading your facebook contacts to your handset it will periodically check the facebook servers for any status updates. If one of your friends updates their status then foobook can play a sound or vibrate, or both, to let you know what’s going on! Foobook also gives you the ability to post your status on facebook without having to launch the browser and navigate to facebook. Foobook also allows you to read comments people have made about your friends status and allows you to make comments too!

Updating...
Foobook for Facebook is a very useful app on my G1. I get notified when one of my friends has posted a new status update and I can immediately comment on it, or mark that I like their update. The app is very fast, easy to use and very intuitive. It’s miles better than the mobile website. It doesn’t give you access to Facebook apps and other features but frankly I don’t want it to. The thing I do most on Facebook is read and comment on my friends’ status updates.
I have found that Facebook has become much more useful for me by having Foobook on my phone. I am much better connected with my friends as a result.
There have been quite a few errors and bugs to iron out in the development of this app and I have emailed the developer several times to report problems. I can say that on each such occasion the developer has fixed the problems promptly and was quite charming.
I have the free version and, think it’s pretty cool. Of course it would depend if you want to be on top of status updates.
