Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Easy to use for batch file operations like copy, paste, move, install application, extract zip, etc.
- Easy to set up HTTP and FTP file sharing.
- Allows easy access to the folders you use the most.
- Customizable toolbar to get easy access to the functions you use the most.
- Silent install and uninstall for root users. Allows you to install a batch of applications without having to accept individual permissions.
- All of the functionality of a application manager, file explorer, and archive manager rolled into one.
Cons
- Application is highly useful but lacks any good visuals detracting from it’s “WOW” factor.
- The top and bottom tool bar take up a lot of valuable screen space.
Features:
A big perk of File Expert is the ease of performing batch file operations. Just check the box next to the files that need to be copied, then perform copy and paste like any other file manager. No need to go through a string of menus to achieve the same result.
File Expert also sports a silent install and uninstall option for rooted users. This feature allows users with a rooted phone to perform the installation of applications without having to accept application permissions (but we encourage you to accept them). This feature also allows users to batch uninstall applications without having to verify the uninstall process. This allows the user to save time while installing more than one application and would be very useful when restoring backed up applications after a wipe.
Another feature of File Expert is it’s “Favorites” tab. This allows the user to add the folders they use the most to a list of favorites for easy access. This prevents you from having to browse through all the folders on your phone every time you want to copy a music file from your downloads to your music folder.
File Expert’s final niche feature is it’s ability to support both HTTP and FTP file transfers from a computer. I was able to set up this feature in a matter of seconds through the share interface. It was very easy to use and highly useful to transfer files off a desktop to a phone without the use of wires.

File Expert Customizable Toolbar
Usefulness:
File Expert is a very useful application. It allows for full customization of it’s interface through your “Favorites” folder as well as a customizable toolbar. It performs many functions in an easier format then alternative file managers. It also supports many useful features which make it unique. In addition the developer is working on additional functionality for root users.
The web portal to upload files to the phone is very useful as well. It allows the user to upload a file off of any computer with ease. The developers of this application are doing a great job trying to support the end user. Based on the work they have done so far this application should only get better with time.
Ease of Use:
File Expert is fairly easy to use. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up the HTTP or FTP server for my phone. I anticipated a fairly lengthy and painful setup process. Instead I found that on clicking the share button all the work was done for me! I just had to navigate to the web address my phone showed on it’s screen. That is what being user friendly is all about.
Frequently Used:
This application may be my replacement to Astro File Manager. I love the “Favorites” option with File Expert. It makes daily tasks easy. I am also excited to see what they will be adding in future versions. I would say this is definitely an application that is worth trying out for your day to day file operations.
Interface:
The interface is the one place that I think this application suffers. It is fairly easy to use, but the button layout and color scheme are plain and take up much of the screen on a phone. Since all of the icons are currently just minimalist gray outlines it makes it difficult to initially adapt to the interface.
This plain interface also takes away from the “WOW Factor.” The developer should consider adding in customizable color schemes and transitions in future versions. This will make this application become not only practical but visually appealing. It would also be useful if you could hide the tool bars with a gesture to allow more viewing space on the screen.
