Pros
Cons
FeedSpeak Pro Android App is an RSS feed reader app that reads aloud titles or titles plus feed summary. Convenient alternative way to stay updated with your favorite websites and blogs. The app was born out of necessity of the developer being too busy to actually read RSS feeds but found a way for his Droid to read them to him. ![]()
Use your Google Reader account (did not successfully connect when using a Google Apps account) to login and pull down subscribed RSS feeds. The app uses Android’s default text-to-speech engine, which sounds robotic but gets the job done. You have the option to listen to all titles of unread articles or dig down to individual feeds and listen to either titles only or titles plus feed summary. The app also marks those listened to as read, you can stop it from reading aloud, plus you can even read articles should you hear a title of interest. If you longpress an article you get menu options to view the full article in the browser or star them.
Remember you manage your RSS feeds via your Google Reader account, FeedSpeak Pro is used to connect to that account. The app does require some poking around to figure out which options are available on what menu. Tip: once logged in, visit the Settings menu and change the default sort to show newest articles first.
Really depends on your RSS feed usage, it could possibly be use multiple times daily.
I guess this one gets a bit of a pass on UI as the app’s core features are about hearing feed content.
