Everyday Notes – simple yet elegant Note-taking app Install

Everyday Notes is a clean and beautiful-looking note taking application from Adylitica, the same developers that brought us Do It (Tomorrow)- the ultimate app for Android-toting procrastinators across the world. Everyday Notes brings a similar feel to it, but this time lets you create notes instead of tasks.

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Beautiful user interface!
  • Easy to use!
  • Scrollable view!
  • New page every day!

Cons

  • No widgets.
  • No settings or customisations.

Features:

When I saw that the developers of Do It (Tomorrow) had released another productivity app, I downloaded it immediately. Do It (Tomorrow) is still one of my favourite to-do apps and, with a liberal dose of humour, lets you just put stuff off until ‘tomorrow’. It might not be endorsed by those creepy-smiled, goal-driven ‘Life Coaches’ that populate social networks in their highly motivated millions, but it’s something real people can surely relate to. Everyday Notes is somewhat different, but brings back that cool user interface and simplistic functionality.

It’s essentially a very basic note-taking application, presented in a familiar interface. You have a new page to fill every day if you wish to, or can can also just list stuff worth noting. When you press the date tab, you go to a vertically scrolling view where you can quickly scan all your entries. To turn pages you just sweep your fingers across the page, replicating a real note book or journal.

The only thing with the app really is that is does very little more than a real notebook. Sure you don’t have to cross stuff out, but the app lacks any proper settings. You can’t change the font (still just that hand written font) and you can’t use different colours, bullet points, etc., meaning that it’s very basic indeed. If that’s what you need- a no bells and whistles note taker/journal-style mobile app- this is fine, but I just think we perhaps demand a little more these days.

If, in future releases, it included the ability to change font styles, included a grid calendar view, added a couple of widgets and- how about this- was able to sync somehow with Do It (Tomorrow)- the app could be scary-good. From the off, I was hugely impressed with Do It (Tomorrow) but, while Everyday Notes is a nice little application, I was a tad disappointed overall. It’s a free app so definitely try it out for yourself but I would think there are far better note apps out there.

Usefulness:

For basic note taking- random thoughts, things to remember, perhaps a basic journal- Everyday Notes is a functional and friendly little app. It doesn’t feature anything like the functionality you get with other note taking apps such as Extensive Notes and Classic Notes, but for simple requirements it’s very good.

Ease of Use:

The app is very easy to use and highly intuitive. It’s missing lots of features compared with other apps, but simple note-taking is a breeze. I like the fact you can review all the notes you’ve written simply and easily too. Turning pages is as delightful as you remembered it in Do It (Tomorrow), making the app feel very user-friendly and tactile.

Frequently Used:

It’s an app that, with your attention, can be used very regularly.

Interface:

If you’ve used Do It (Tomorrow), Everyday Notes should feel remarkably familiar. It’s very polished and wonderfully designed to feel very realistic; from the page turning to the scribble noise when something is written, it’s fun, engaging and very cool.

Should you Download Everyday Notes? Everyday Notes is a really nice app but it lacks a few extra features that would make it as useful as its sibling Do It (Tomorrow). As a note taker it’s OK, but very simplistic, perhaps too simplistic for it to replace your current note-taking app (if you use one). If you want something uncomplicated and light, this is an ideal solution. However, once you’re over the cool user interface it might not match the requirements of the more advanced user.
