Dwell is the app for lovers of design and architecture. It presents great looking interior design, stylish products, stunning architecture and original ideas. If you were wowed by apps such as Fancy, Dwell will be just your cup of tea.

Content Rating: Everyone
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Wide collection of architecture and design content to view!
- Superb galleries and videos!
- Easily share discoveries to social networks!
- Great app design!
Cons
- Would benefit hugely from the ability to comment and save favourite articles.
- Products look great, but there’s no links to buy or explore, etc.
Features:
Dwell is a great-looking application that showcases a variety of superb design and architecture. There are a various sections to explore too, so there’s always something new to find. Homes show off gorgeous interior design and innovative exterior architecture. The section titled ‘Ideas‘ seem to cover everything from imaginative concepts to just new ways of looking at familiar things. Some elaborate, some fantastically simple. Watch is where to go for slideshows and video content, which helps bring many of these ideas to life. Events are a list of forthcoming shows, exhibitions and fairs where cutting edge design is on display.
There’s a neat section too on Products. From shelving units to furniture and ornaments, there’s a great selection each with an intro, pictures and prices. Weirdly, there are no links or further information so, if you fall in love that Bamboo Shelving Unit you’re just going to have to go search the interwebs for yourself!
Not all products are like that to be fair, but many fail to provide any links or further information.
Items and articles you do find however can easily be shared to any of your social networks, SMS or email. A handy tab in the menu takes you to all your sharing apps, so it’s very user friendly. On the topic of social networks, you can access the Dwell Twitter feed from within the app too.
I guess my favourite feature of the application is actually the design of it. It’s beautiful, easy to use and very intuitive. With the inclusion of videos and slideshows, the app really comes to life and you get to see some breathtaking homes and innovative products in sharp detail. While articles are simple to share, the app misses a trick by not being more social. With services like Fancy, you can save your favourite finds, as well as comment and share them. However, within Dwell, it feels far less interactive and I think it subsequently loses something in the process.

Usefulness:
If you like exploring smart and innovative ideas, architecture and products, Dwell is a great app to have. Whether you’re window shopping or looking for inspiration, its a simple way to find great ideas.
Ease of Use:
Dwell wins big on ease of use because it’s incredibly user friendly and highly intuitive. I really liked the tabs along the side which make the app simple to navigate and look great too.
Frequently Used:
There’s a fair bit of content in the app itself, but I haven’t noticed much in the way of new articles in the few days I’ve been trying the app out. I’m sure it does update, but don’t expect a stream of regularly updating stories akin to a news app.
Interface:
The interface is brilliant, I wish there were more apps designed around these principals. Really fresh, superbly designed (as you might expect) and blissfully simple to use.
