Droplets is back and it is bigger and more beautiful than ever. XIMAD, developers of Brain Cube and Ninja Breakout, have headed back to the rainforest to deliver Droplets 2.0. The game is a creative take on the well-known puzzle where you must remove all the pieces from the 2-dimensional board in order to leave only one. In Droplets 2.0 the pieces are gorgeously animated little droplets of dew. The graphics are pretty dazzling, even if the depictions are a bit cutesy. However beneath the veneer of pretty ladybugs, cute droplets of water and leaves so well rendered you can taste the photosynthesis, lies the dark fiendish heart of a puzzler that may well infest your dreams.
Features:
The first thing that jumps out at you with Droplets 2.0 is the visuals. We’re not talking super 3-D blocks of light or blisteringly fast graphics, rather the artwork and animations are beautifully lush. The Droplets themselves make a pleasing wobble when you flick them, the little lady bug that walks along the bottom is sweet and when the big ladybug flutters her wings…. oh I’m sure you get the picture. It’s ‘rainforest’ but without all the killer spiders.
The game design is clever, it starts you off with easy, sweet, nice levels, getting you addicted to the experience before throwing in the kind of challenging levels that will make your brain pulse with concentration.
Droplets 2.0 comes with two modes; Mega mode and Pro mode. Mega mode is the friendly, hint-filled walk through the rainforest canopy, gently flicking beads of water and trying not to tread on the ladybugs. It’s certainly challenging, but there’s no pressure, just take your time. Pro mode is when things get serious. In Pro mode there is a timer, want a hint? Sure but it’s going to cost you points and you have to start the level again. It takes no prisoners. You stop caring about the cuteness and just concentrate on beating the game. Despite both modes offering plenty of similar levels, there is a much darker and more challenging atmosphere in Pro mode.

Fun Factor:
Droplets 2.0 is great fun, cute yet tough. Children will love the imagery and simple gameplay, while adults can take on the very serious issue of beating the game.
Addictive:
Mind-numbingly addictive. Utterly devious, royally fiendish and immersive. There should be state-run self-help groups for people addicted to this.
Graphics:
Gorgeous graphics. Not stunning, jaw-dropping-special-effects kind of visuals, but delicious rendered backdrops and nicely animated gameplay.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Sound is functional, without being too much. Immersive rainforest/tribal inspired intro music, pleasing little popping sounds and a triumphant chorus when you complete a level.
