DroidAlone – Missed Calls. Access Your Missed Calls and Text Messages by Email Install

DroidAlone – Missed Calls is one of those unique apps which you might truly call a life-saver. The simple premise is that, if you leave your phone at home, you can remotely access missed calls and SMS messages from wherever you are. It’s straightforward to set up and configure, then totally forget about… until that critical moment you realize you left your phone at home, round at a friend’s place, in car or wherever.

AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • If you forget your phone, the app gives you a range of access options to access missed calls and text messages!
  • Simple to set up and use!
  • Makes your phone that bit smarter!

Cons

  • Basic UI but this shouldn’t put people off.

Features:

DroidAlone is one incredibly intuitive and useful app. If you’ve accidentally left your Android at home, it essentially lets you receive notifications via email from your phone whenever you miss a call or SMS message from it. There’s always going to be that one time when you accidentally leave your phone at home and instead of the onset of panic, you can control the phone remotely by SMS text message commands.

Information can be sent to you via email so you can see when someone has tried calling or texting you. It’s the kind of helpful security functionality that just makes so much sense. Setting the app up is simple and can be completed via a useful wizard in the menu. In no time you can access your phones information and receive ongoing notifications throughout the time you’re away from your phone. If that wasn’t helpful enough you can also locate your phone if you have left it elsewhere, and even set auto-response messages to let the people who are trying to contact you know what’s going on.

DroidAlone, while being an amazingly simple idea, is executed very well indeed and is genuinely intuitive and helpful. It’s the sort of app you might never actually have the need for, but when you do it’s truly brilliant. Other services can offer similar things, especially the likes of geo-location, but this all-in-one security app should be a ‘must-have’, just in case…

Usefulness:

Incredibly useful, the benefit of which you’d only truly realise if you leave your phone elsewhere. Obviously you might just as likely be able to wait until you get home to see who called, but for those who use their phones much more and need to know this kind of information immediately, this is an essential application.

It also is useful for those who want to interact with their phone, however, without being seen with their nose constantly in their device. You can stay productive at the desktop and out of the phone while still checking and accessing the phone. :P

Ease of Use:

Setting the app up is relatively straightforward. From then on, if you need to utilize the app you do so via email or SMS. It’s responsive and works as you expect it to, so it’s pretty much as easy as it can be. I think I might have liked to see a little more tutorial in the app- or at least make these instructions more intuitive and easy to access. But the wizard makes the app smoother and simpler to configure.

Frequently Used:

Oddly this is the kind of app you never want to actually use. It’s also an app you might only ever use a few times (in which time you learn your lesson and make sure you have your phone on you when you leave the house), but if and when you do need it, it’s clearly very useful. It’s a good app to set up then forget about until the unimaginable happens and you leave  your phone somewhere.

Interface:

The interface is very simplistic, there are far prettier apps out there but, lets be honest- it’s not like you’re going to be using it all the time hopefully. Once it’s set up, you can more or less forget about it. Therefore this is a complete non-issue really and should in no way dissuade users.

Should you Download DroidAlone – Missed Calls? For an app you might only ever use a few times, DroidAlone is an incredibly useful app. Letting you access information about your text messages and missed calls remotely is a deeply helpful function and could really come in handy if you accidentally leave your phone somewhere. The app is relatively easy to configure and, while the UI is quite basic, it’s just the kind of app you could install and completely forget about until you need it. This is a paid app, and while some people might just be happy to wait until they get home, but if you need that access it’s worth every penny.
