This is a good list of apps. There is also an app for sharing your whiteboard images easily, take a picture and it cleans the whiteboard image and emails to the recipients. It is free and you can get it from the Android Market by searching “Whiteboard Share”

Yes it's possible vis a few apps: TV.com and SPB TV (full version). However they may have limitations, don't expect the full experience of your classic tube, you still get a lot of video content.

Is there any app available to watch TV on the Droid yet? This is the only thing keeping me from jumping in to buy one. in one Verizon store they tell me yes it cn be done and other stores say NO it cannot be done. Im wondering if I was being BS’d or is it in the works maybe. Thanks

Got a Droid and here are my favorite apps:
1. Google Maps. Replaces the need for stand alone GPS navigation devices!
2. Voice Search. Hands free convenient access to web, phone numbers, etc.
3. Google voice. Love getting auto translated text messages
4. Fractoid. Let’s face it Geeks are drawn to Droids just as fashionistas like iPhones. Fractoid creates an incredibe variety of cool math-based art, has the best implementation I’ve seen of pinch and zoom, and shows off the processing power of a Droid/Nexus One better than any other app.
And iPhone has nothing of equal quality in ANY of these apps.

You can indeed download apps/games outside the Android Market, they just caution it when you go into the Setting menu to change it. There are a few other places to get app outside the Market: SlideMe and AndAppStore have some. I know of Flight, it's a cool game but I have not seen an Android equivalent.

Hi there!
I sure hope you’ve had better luck than me… I not only LOVE to play games, but I love to play them “all the time”.. but, the Droid is new to me. Is the “Market” the ONLY place that I can get games that are compatible with the Droid? It says not to go elsewhere to get apps?? but they all say this(don’t they?) lol
If you have heard of or could suggest any place to find games (apps) anything let me know greatly b appreciated.. OH! my husband was looking for a game that played on iPhone called “Flight ??” something or another ??lol..lol. it’s game that lands planes..thanks again

Swift is by far the best Twitter app. I love the way it loads new tweets on scroll. Also best color scheme.

I am looking for an app that will allow pic AND sound messages as a regular cell phone will do. I love my Droid but I miss this feature that I, and many of my friends use on a regular basis.
I am currently using Handcent which works well but will not allow both pic and sound messages combined.
Right now I use my wife’s LG EnV2 to generate the message and forward from my Droid. Amazing how great this phone is but yet is missing this feature.
Any help would be appreciated!

Sherpa is currently exclusive to T-Mobile’s Android phones. However, we will be releasing a Geodelic app that works on many OS’s and carriers in the near future.

Sherpa is not currently available on the Droid. I emailed the developers and they confirmed that it’s currently exclusively available on T-Mobile but they are planning on eventually bringing it over to other carriers.

Not to be mean, but you clearly didn’t actually try this list out on an actual Droid. Many of those apps are either unavailable or broken on WVGA or Android 2.0 right now.

For example:
- Layar is unavailable on the market (supposedly they’re working on a new version and blocked it from the Market on 2.0 because of API changes that break AR apps).
- Sherpa is also unavailable on the Droid right now.
- As far as I can tell Wikitude just plain doesn’t work.

Also, don’t forget Google’s own Listen in the Podcast category; it’s free and pretty lightweight. And for RSS – NewsRob has nice Google Reader offline capabilities, and it’s also free.
