While the options are impressive to have more internal memory, I do not think I would go to the Droid 2.

If it were able to install custom ROMs, sure I’d want to upgrade. Playing with new ROMs is a large part of what I enjoy about my DROID. So, no thank you.

I don’t disagree with that but OMAP36xx is based on 45nm, OMAP34xx (in the original Droid) was 65nm, that’s why even at 1GHz, battery life is still better.

Having said that, I’m also not upgrading anytime soon, will wait for a dual-core Cortex-A9 (OMAP44xx), and Gingerbread.

The new keyboard and extra ram look really nice. But not enough to make me switch and have to root a new phone. Also why use Verizon’s tethering app? It looks to me like it’s only advantage it that it tells Verizon to bill you extra. It’s also possible that the new processor isn’t really that new; some times chip makers will bump the model number when they certify a chip to run at a higher speed.

I read a source that said the Droid 2′s best Quadrant score (stock) to date is 1458. If rooting and OC’ing is your ideal then you will get considerable performance increases based on the current numbers already if you were to switch. 256MB on on-board memory is kinda rough and makes it hard to utilize the full potential of using the Froyo update.

Are you rooted to a custom ROM?

My rooted and overclocked (1543 on Quadrant) Droid is rock solid and blazing fast. It will be more than enough phone until the dual core android phones with front-facing camera hit the market next year.

Not sure if its worth the upgrade or not… have awhile to think about it. Probably depends on Froyo improvements in speed/stability
