doubleTwist recently launched several solutions to fill the gap Google neglected to fill for media with Android. They first launched an iTunes-like desktop software which allows you to sync any media to Android devices. Then added support for searching the full Android Market for apps initially for Mac and now Windows based PCs. Followed by web version of searchable Android apps catalog. Now they are extending the experience with a media player app for Android devices called doubleTwist Player that will allow you to sync your music with doubleTwist.
The media player will allow syncing iTunes playlists and audio/video podcasts. The app and desktop software combo will behave in must the fashion of iPod/iTunes combo by allowing transfer of ratings, play count, and other information between phone and PC. Later add-on features will include the ability to wirelessly sync media and online radio.
We must point out at I/O, Google demoed the new Android Market which will allow wireless stream of iTunes library to phone, however doubleTwist is available today so head to the Market and download it. Of course our full Android app review is forthcoming!
