Pros & Cons:
Pros
- You can shoot enemies as well as jump over obstacles.
- Interesting graphics.
Cons
- It’s a fairly typical run-and-jump game.
- Can be repetitive.
- Controls are a bit difficult on larger screens.
Features:
The concept for Devil Ninja is a cute one. You’re a ninja, and you’re running through a host of enemies to fight them. The developers have said boss battles are coming as well, so it will be interesting to see how those are implemented. Immediately, let me say that I tested this on both the tablet and phone, and it was nearly unplayable on the tablet. There are two different buttons, one on each side of the screen, to jump or shoot, and trying to control it on the tablet and hold it at the same time was almost impossible. On the phone, since the screen isn’t as big, it’s a bit easier to control, so if you’re interested in the game, you’ll want to get it on your smaller device. I also experienced lag on both versions that it would suddenly pause, and then I would find myself dead when it caught back up.

Fun Factor:
If you enjoy the run and jump style of games, then this is a nice example of that. The fact that you can shoot enemies as well as jump over obstacles is a nice touch, if not perfectly implemented for all devices. The only thing that mars this game is that it does lag a bit and quite often, or did so on my devices, so you end up dying early more than really necessary. That does take away from the fun factor a bit.
Addictive:
There are a lot of different enemies and obstacles in the game, and the fact that you have two motions to coordinate gives it a bit of something extra over similar games of its genre, which gives it a reason to come back. There are also power-ups and special moves you can get if you time jumps right, which is a nice touch as well.
Graphics:
The graphics are of decent comic book-like rendition, which has a nice vibrant color palette.. I have a feeling it was the powerups, or when there was a lot happening on the screen in which caused my lag/death issues, so I attribute it to the graphics and poor handling of them since I don’t have that issue with any other games.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Since the game centers around you pressing the buttons to shoot or jump at the right times, it doesn’t use the accelerometer.
