While lots of fun, I didn’t find myself particularly engrossed by it.

Features:

Demolition Inc. THD is a clever blend of physics-based gameplay and unique puzzle-strategy. Using a variety of tricks you must turn the city blocks into rubble. I’m still relatively early in the game, but there are exploding cows, oils patches and skidding spots which- when placed correctly into on-coming traffic- work a charm at slamming those cars into buildings, causing them to collapse. If a building is toppled correctly it might even knock down other structures and so on. To pass a level you need to accumulate a certain score. Beyond my experience there are lots of other weapons to try too; anti-gravity ramps, earthquake triggers, a wrecking ball and tractor beams can all be used to cause maximum devastation.

The physics of the game are incredible and superbly realistic- even if the buildings fall down a little too easily. The exciting part is when you’re able to set off a chain reaction of explosions and crashes which take down multiple structures and earn lots of points. You need a little practice to make the most out of the weapons, and you find yourself wasting some to begin with. You need to deploy good timing and excellent strategy to get the highest scores. If you do well you might find yourself on the global leaderboards which can also be accessed in the game.

Controls are really clever too. The 3D environment can be explored by pinching to zoom in and out, rotating 360 degrees using a wheel panel at the bottom of the screen and dragging your finger over the screen to move. It’s very intuitive and lets you get several different perspectives. Often you’ll find new ramps or explosives to hit that were disguised from your initial view. All of this is flawlessly smooth and looks great on your Android device. The THD version of the game requires a Tegra 3 chip to work, however, less powerful devices can pick up the HD version of the game which is also available in the Google Play Store.

Fun Factor:

Demolition Inc. THD is wonderfully crafted and designed and is lots of fun. Levels are challenging and there are always several ways to complete them. The game gives you a great deal of freedom to play it the way you want to. And, of course, all that demolition is pretty cool.

Addictive:

This is where I felt the game was a little bit of a let down. I’m not sure why, and it might just be me, but it didn’t overly grip me very much. It’s lots of fun but I never felt inclined to come back for more. I can’t quite put my finger on why this is the case, but while it’s great to play and immersive, I never felt that crave to return.

Graphics:

Utterly flawless. Smooth, detailed, brilliantly designed- one of the best looking games available on Android!

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

The music is excellent and the variety of sounds; from cows mooing and explosions, are sublime in every detail. The music can get a little repetitive if you’re stuck on a level for a while, but at least it’s optional.

Should you Download Demolition Inc. THD? If you have a high-end Android device and want a fun game that you can show off, this is awesome. Aside from the fact I didn’t find it especially addictive, the game is thoroughly enjoyable and full of clever gameplay. Graphics and sound are superb and the physics engine- which powers all that destruction- is pretty much impeccable. Definitely check it out.

Note that the THD version includes extra levels and some other goodies but only runs on Tegra devices, while the regular HD version runs on everything but has less. If you have both a Tegra device and other devices (like me) then you get to lose out one way or the other. After contacting the developer I decided to let them lose out and didn’t buy the game at all.
