My first gaming that I did was at my grandma’s house. She had a ton of grandchildren so the gaming was always done there. We had competitions to see how far we could stand from the TV for duck hunt and still keep progressing. She still has the whole system and refuses to give it away/sell it.

    So many fond memories.

Bad news baseball. It was a baseball game for the Nintendo that when you put in a special code would unlock girls teams. a special treasure for a girl gamer in 80 s, heck, even by today’s videogame standards it’s pretty cool.

Bushido for the PC! Had lots of fun playing that game, on an 8086 computer. My cousin had a Vectrex console, we had many hours of fun with that too. Don’t remember the name of the game we played most of the time though, that was nearly 30 years ago!

We had an Apple II. It came with King’s Quest, but I think Karateka was probably the first real “video game” that I played on it.

My first childhood video game was PONG! However, just in case some don’t want to consider that game legit, my next games were on the Atari 2600. My two first and favorites were Combat and Football. On Combat, I liked the tank and flying games, (never got the big bomber). I loved football because….I love football. But there was a cheat that my friends and I always used. If you got burned, your could run to the other side and catch them. That was the first glitch/exploit I ever saw in a video game.

Despite it being almost 25 years ago, I can still clearly remember the day my parents surprised me with an NES. They had set up the loft with a TV, cozy chairs, and a brand new NES with all the accessories (at the time, the Zapper and Power Pad) and Super Mario Bros. I remember my dad futzing with the connector on the TV, and my mom watching as I tried to complete the first level, at 5 years old and having never touched a video game before. I remember looking a the instruction manual and trying to figure out why the princess was a question mark. I remember trying to compete with my parents in World Class Track Meet, and feeling sorry for the ducks in Duck Hunt.

Who can forget the intense, complicates gameplay controls of the game….. with a constant push of “A” to thrust your weapon ….with an occasional “B” action to have your turtles thrust in the air for an Ariel attach…. truly is American as it gets! !!!

first video game?… WayBackMachine activated… Commodore 64… LoadRunner… what a flashback. that is the first ones that I would consider a video game. there were others before that that I could play strictly with a paddle, and some that worked strictly with a keyboard. then again maybe Burger Time on an 8088 was the earliest. how much easier that was when they added the second floppy drive, and when they updated the memory to 1 the whole megabyte. Those were the days.

There was 10 levels and you had to get through all of them with out dying. I can tell you that this game was harder then any game you will play today.

Well, that’s my first childhood game, I wish everyone else good luck, but mostly to myself. Lol
