It may not be the latest Galaxy device but still an awesome phone with huge & vivid screen, fast enough to handle any of these top apps, gets blazing 4G speeds, and crowned the best Android phone on Virgin by us- a free phone and first month’s free… that’s more than $350 value! Tell us how old were you when you got your 1st cellphone to win! I was 19 and sported the Audiovox PCX 1000 from PrimeCo, a large regional carrier that rolled into U.S. Cellular. Winning is simple but has two catches:

  1. Limited to residents in the U.S. (to activate the device).
  2. Winner must send in a pic and/or video of yourself and your prize (if you cannot do this, please do not enter).

Random winner will be chosen by tomorrow morning and contacted via the email used to comment (so use an accurate email!) Follow us on social media as some giveaways don’t hit the site. Come back tomorrow as we give away… come back and see. :P P.S. don’t forget to check out our new Holiday Gift Buying Guide and enter to win or daily giveaways!

I got my first cell phone when I was 16 (2003). I got it because I was going on a road trip from SoCal to NorCal and my parents wanted to make sure I had something in case of an emergency. The moment I left Orange County it stopped working. However since it was my grandpa’s and he was bedridden, he didn’t need a phone so I inherited his phone and number, and still have the number now.

I was in 5th Grade when I got my first cell phone, a Motorola StarTAC analog flipfone. My father was an AT&T Wireless Services authorized dealer so I was lucky enough to get one at a very young age. (i’m almost 30 now) These were the days when we had no dropped calls (analog signal = better reception than digital) …phone calls were $.75/min and they had 100-400min average plans monthly. Those were the days… Regardless I could really use a new phone now!

I can’t enter and I have that phone right now just on T-Mo, so here’s my post anyhow.

Well, I had this HUGE phone that wasn’t consider a “cell” anything. It was a car battery sized contraption with a strap and a case and it was very short on calls. Like “hello” and “goodbye”. I thought it was sooooo cool yet heavy walking around campus with it. I wish I would have saved it for the kids today to see.

Next was something from Sprint, I think. I just can’t recall what it was. I do remember having a heap of accessories even a car adapter. Yes, the kinda you had to actually INSTALL IN the car. Then something happened where the carrier changed the type of spectrum they were on and we took all of that stuff from that phone and traded it up for the next greatest thing in whatever type network it was. Somewhere around the mid 90′s.

It was 1997 and I was 17. It was a prepaid by Tracfone. It was a variation of the Nokia 5110. You had to make sure you topped up your minutes constantly. Funny thing is that I am now back to using Tracfone prepaid services under Straight Talk. I feel like I have gone full circle.
