Cyanogenmod Updates to Stable Version 7.0.2

Cyanogenmod released an update to version 7 of it’s popular custom ROM this past weekend. The first release was 7.0.1 which was quickly recalled due to a bug, and 7.0.2 is now available to download. Changes inlcude fixes for the GPS and Wi-Fi problems many users were experiencing, as well as a ton of performance and stability bugs.

“It’s been about two weeks since we rolled out the first stable version of CyanogenMod-7,” noted Cyanogen in his blog post about the update, “and it unfortunately came with a few bugs. 7.0.1 brings many bugfixes, including GPS fixes for many devices, a handful a new features, and support for a few devices that weren’t quite ready in time for 7.0 (original Droid).”

It is worth a mention that there is a significant bug with this ‘stable’ version of cyanogen. Your video camera will not work. I wouldn’t recommend people take this ‘stable’ rom until they have the major bugs fixed. I’ll stay on an older version of cyanogen 7 and keep that functionality, thanks.

  The video camera works just not in high quality mode. The CM7 team is working on a hotfix to correct the issue.

I should note that I ended up having to revert back to 7.0.0 this morning because the update broke my WiFi on the MyTouch 3G Slide. For some reason, this particular phone has had a lot of issues with WiFi through all the versions, and this reverted me back to my phone being unable to see or connect to a signal, and restoring my nandroid from just before the update fixed the problem. If I hear anything else about this, I’ll post it here!

  Give 7.0.2.1 a try Toni and tell me what you think. I’m running nightly #57 a try (compiled earlier this morning) with the GPS driver from #39. Running beautifully, although I’m considering to run the Tiamut kernel again.

    I installed the latest nightly last night, and that does seem to have fixed the problems – WiFi and GPS both seem to be working at the same time on the same build! I’m on 57 right now, so I’ll run it for a few days and see if there are any other issues.
