Color & Draw for kids phone ed is a fantastically easy to use coloring and drawing app which is ideal for kids of all ages. Either choose from a wide selection of pictures to color in or start with a blank canvas to create your own pictures. There’s a good palette to choose from and a range of colors. Ideal app for bringing out your child’s artistic side, the app was recently available for 10c as part of the Android 10BN download sale. Now back to it’s usual price of ~$0.99, it’s still a great option for amusing little ones.

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Ability to create and view your own gallery!
- Plenty of pictures to color!
- Simple interface!
- Interactive audio!
- Great range of colors!
Cons
- While perhaps ideal for very little kids, it might feel somewhat limited for older ones.
Features:
Firstly, a warning: don’t use this on a tablet. This version of the app is specifically for phones. The tablet-friendly version of Color & Draw for kids can be found here. I’d guess the apps are more or less the same, but suited for different sized devices. Still with men? Great. ‘Color & Draw for kids phone ed’ is a funky little art app ideal for very young children with a creative side.
Choose between either a white or black canvass to free draw. In this mode you have a selection of brightly colored pencils, in addition to a range of editing options beneath. These include: an eraser, stickers, the ability to change the size of either the pencil or eraser, opacity, save, say again (repeat the audio) and a share option should you want to show others your creation. This then leave you, sorry… your young child, to draw your/their picture.
The other option is to select a picture to color in. There are 49 different pictures to choose from, so there’s loads for your child to color in. The choices are quite cute and feature all kind of things and activities: Cow, Baby Elephant, Reading, Soccer, Flying a Kite and so on… Pictures can be saved into your gallery so you can either share it or show other people later.
A big feature in the app is the audio, which introduces each element of the app is chirpy optimism. Thankfully you can switch this off in the settings if you choose, but I imagine it might be somewhat inspiring and interactive for small children. The audio will also introduce the coloring book pictures, telling you what they are and sometimes makes suggestions as to how to color it in.
The app is aimed at children between the ages of 3 and 9. However I’d argue that it might seem a little bit babyish for 8 or 9 year olds. It’s all good fun, and there are various comments in the Android Market which suggest that many adults use the app, but in my opinion it’s more suited to younger kids.

Usefulness:
Color & Draw is a great amusement and distraction for children and they can spend many hours playing with it and creating new and cool pictures. It’s also pretty neat that they can export their creations and you can share them however you like. There is a nice selection of options here too, so plenty to play with.
Ease of Use:
Designed with children in mind, it’s delightfully simple to use. The app perhaps requires minimal adult supervision; especially when it comes to sharing and/or switching between coloring in and drawing options but it’s all very easy to do.
Frequently Used:
This depends very much on two factors: how much your kid likes playing with it and how often you like them playing on your phone. I imagine kids might happily play on the app as often as you like, but with sticky fingers and their lack of appreciation for expensive gadget hardware, you might prefer to buy them a wealth of pens, pencils and paper than leave them alone too often with your Android.
Interface:
The interface is bright, responsive and very simple to interact with. A lot of thought has gone into the app in order to create a friendly and intuitive environment for children and it’s all pretty cute and well designed.
