Cinderella 3D Popup Fairy Tale is an interactive storybook for children. Featuring cool 3D popup effects, children are read to and encouraged to help Cinderella with her chores and other actions as the narrative progresses. The visual effect is very impressive and the interactive elements are great for small children to engage with.

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Nice graphics!
- interactive story elements!
- Read yourself or be read to options!
Cons
- Recommend for the ages of 3-9, but my 7 year old wasn’t that impressed.
Features:
Cinderella 3D Popup Fairy Tale is a story book that your children interact with. Your child can initially choose whether to read the story themselves, or be read-to by the in-app narrator. At the top of the screen is the sound toggle (put it this way, you’ll hate the music, your child will probably love it). Below are left and right tabs which let your child progress from page to page and there are forty two pages in total.
Every few pages there is a popup section which springs to life. Colourful moving images bring the story to life and each requires the child to perform a number of interactive tasks. These include, for example, helping Cinderella do her chores or collecting wood for a fire. Obviously these change as the tale goes on, but children can fully involve themselves in the storyline.
While I liked the options, slick graphics and interactive elements, the proof would be in whether a child actually enjoys it. Fortunately I have a couple of children to try out these kind of apps on. From my 7 year old’s perspective, she liked the popup bits and the tasks she had to do, but I don’t think she enjoyed it as much as similar interactive books, such as When I Get Bigger. She also wasn’t that keen to play with the app a subsequent time.
I think what this proves more than anything is that, at 7, I think she was a little too old for the app. It is recommended for ‘Pre-school’ between the ages of 3-9. Now in the likes of the UK and US, school starts around the age of 5, so my guess would be this would actually be better directed at the age range of about 3-5. It’s in no way a bad little app, it’s cute, interactive and fun- but over the age of 7 it might not engage your child as much.

Usefulness:
The app encourages reading and the story includes a number of participatory tasks for children to play with. Part educational, part entertainment, it’s a great app for engaging small children for a period of time- a holy grail for parents.
Ease of Use:
It’s designed to be used by a child, so it’s very simple to play with.
Frequently Used:
Younger children will get more out of this than older ones. There’s quite a lot of content too, so definitely something the kids aged 3-5 will want to come back to.
Interface:
The interface is simple yet very well designed. The graphics are very good and the popup pages are well animated and lots of fun.
