Box.net is a web-based service that allows you to share and collaborate with others on the web. You can receive a free personal account with 5GB of storage by registering through the registration tab or by signing up online with your PC/Mac. The app is free and allows you to simply view and share files on-the-go. There are some disappointing limitations with the app compared to the web version.
Sharing files can be done simply by viewing the item via the small arrow to the right of the file name and clicking “Share”. Your presented with mainly consist of mail accounts and bluetooth. The link to the file is then sent via email in which the user can open the link directly to the file you’ve sent. Be warned: These links are not password-protected or exclusive to any receipent so be careful what you send and who you send links to.
Viewing files is a bit cumbersome. Most file types are directed to other programs. Office documents open up in a sort of preview mode that natively opens in Quickoffice. Even trying to open a 3GP file resulted in an error. The web version of Box.Net handles these tasks beautifully and it’s a shame to not see that type of quality replicated in their Android app.
Uploading files seemed to be the easiest task in the app. Simply select the folder you wish to upload to (although I was unable to find a way to create a folder). Enter or correct the name of the file your uploading. Last but not least, press the “upload” button and bam! Your file is uploaded as fast as your connection handle.

Usefulness & Ease of Use:
The app itself really needs a lot of work to live up to it’s web-based partner. Uploading documents is easy but viewing your documents is reliant upon external programs.
If you share files and want a quick and easy way to send your client that report without sending it as an attachment. This is an excellent candidate to send large files without worrying about the server limit.
All text and icons are effiiciently spaced and easy to read. Viewing documents should be made easier with a little more native support.
