Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Decent 3D graphics plus locations adds a twist on just traditional bowling!
- Several game player modes; single, versus CPU, 2, 3 & 4 players on same device!
- Several gaming controls; flick in direction only, tilt only, combination of flick in direction and tilt controls!
Cons
- Bowling pin physics far off.
- Few soothing Zenful tracks, but they’re short and get repetitive. Pin sound effects are unauthentic.
- No difficulty levels with CPU.
Features:
Bowling Paradise Pro takes you from several extravagant 3D locations; from a cathedral domed bowling alley, from a Zenful garden to a peaceful beach, special multi-layered ‘sloped lanes’ or even in outer space. The latter two alter gaming mechanics a bit as the Slopes have the ball rolling down a wavy path. Notice the gap in the space lane thus it can make the ball fly in the air rather than rolling the entire length.
There are several game play modes including: single, play against the CPU (which is far too easy to beat as there are no CPU difficulty modes), or play against two, three or up to four different people on the same device in pass and play style. Choose from 10 ball designs and 10 pin designs (none of which offer any special power or abilities, just serve as aesthetics). At the end of each game you get stats and a firework show.
Controlling your ball is pretty simple as you can choose in the settings: flick in direction only (swipe left/right for hook direction), tilt only, combination of flick in direction and tilt controls. As you bowl, you can see the direction of your bowl represented by a fancy light streak particle effect. One of the greatest let downs of the game is how far off the bowling pin physics are. It just does not feel authentic (but I guess bowling in outer space really doesn’t sell the idea of authenticity.) To better illustrate, when pins get tapped slightly, they have a tendency to knock over far more pins than you would expect. Also, for a right-hand bowler I like to aim between the 1 & 3 pins to get that ricochet effect in getting a Strike, this fails badly here- just seems to mow down what’s in front of the balls’ path.

Bowling Paradise Pro Settings
Fun Factor:
Bowling Paradise Pro can be wholesome fun with a friend, family or while played solitaire. Though I fear it can become repetitive, especially since the CPU player is so easy to defeat.
Addictive:
The game has the potential to become addictive to fanatics of the sport.
Graphics:
Bowling Paradise Pro offers decent 3D graphics in a range of scenic places from calming beaches to occasional passing by of space craft to imaginary Mushroom lands. I personally think the animations could be polished a bit more.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
It has a few tracks, yet they’re short loops and get repetitive. By far the worst sound effects are when pins get knocked over, they sound like tinny ticking sounds rather than the masculine crash of bowling pins getting crushed.
The accelerometer is calibrated well when you use the tilt controls. Tip: when you hook the ball, it can be done anytime before the green dotted line.
