Bombergeddon is a polished bomberman clone in the style of an action adventure. If you’re a fan of the Indiana Jones films, prepared to be enthralled in Bombergeddon by Dakota Jackson (see what they did there?!). Featuring lots of exciting levels, achievements, enemies, bombs and more, it’s a brilliant update fans of the original (and subsequent) Bomberman games will really like.

Features:
The original Bomberman came out in 1983 and became a genuine gaming classic. There has been any number of updates, official and non, but the challenging gameplay concept of running around mazes and triggering bombs to kill enemies should be familiar to most people. With Bombergeddon, Herocraft have blended with it another great institution from the 1980′s – the Indiana Jones action adventure. Cannily named Dakota Jackson, our hero must explore 4 different worlds and across 80 levels- pretty much bombing everything that moves.
There is some diversity to the levels too- sometimes it’s a case of collecting things on screen or finding your way to the exit, and then sometimes it really is down to blowing up all the baddies. This at least provides some variety. There are 14 different bombs in the game and each has a different effect. There is something quite spectacular about setting off a chain reaction and blow up half the level!
I have to confess that normally, Bomberman games aren’t really my thing- so I was quite surprised when Bombergeddon got under my skin. Levels aren’t that hard to start with, you then get lured into the game and it becomes very addictive after a short while. The learning curve is really good and the game allows you to make progress before it gets trickier. I really like the way there is diversity in the levels and the retro-look is very well done. OK, so games like this are not revolutionary, and if nostalgia isn’t your thing this isn’t going to be for you, but I found it to be addictive, fun and challenging.

Fun Factor:
Gameplay drifts between the frantic and the strategic, so it suits gamers who enjoy both. There are different modes of play and even campaign levels mix it up by having different objectives. On that basis, the game is very enjoyable and engrossing.
Addictive:
Based on the classic Bomberman games of yesteryear, the game is duly full of nostalgic charm. Back in the day games were all about gameplay and being addictive was a must. Subsequently, Bombergeddon is additive and very engaging.
Graphics:
Two words; ‘Old School’. Bombergeddon takes you back to the 1980′s arcade games and even adopt the Raiders of the Lost Ark thematic- itself a famous 80′s trope. It was never going to be a thrillingly realistic 3D extravaganza, it’s full of retro familiarity and challenging gameplay.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
Each world has a different soundtrack and the game overall has a Raiders of the Lost Ark-style theme. There is also other little effects like bombs and collecting items. The game can vibrate as well, but you can switch these on and off if you wish.
