AndroidTapp.com Android Game Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • A decent RPG with a unique take on the genre for mobile!
  • Lots of different monsters to collect and/or create!
  • A robust upgrade system!

Cons

  • The new PVP system is confusing and a bit annoying.
  • It gets repetitive fast.

Features:

Blood Brothers is an interesting mix of an RPG game with a story line, and a “collection” game where you try to collect the best and strongest monsters. And I was having a lot of fun playing it, even though, at times, it got to be repetitive.

Until the latest update brought PVP.

Personally, I kind of think this ruined the game. The rest of the elements are still there, but now, instead of focusing on building a crew to fight the current level monsters, and being willing to put in lower level monsters to work on upping their stats, you feel like you always have to keep your strongest players in, because you will get hit with PVP… and a lot. Like every other step, you’re being taken into the PVP screen.

Which, in and of itself, wouldn’t even be a problem. But the way the system is choosing who you go up against, to be honest, you go in knowing about half the time that you’re going to loose because it’s pitting you against players that are three times your level. And the way the system is set up, you only really get decent rewards after you’ve won a lot of PVP battles in a row, without dying. So when you always die after about the fifth one, at which point you start over only getting low level rewards, it gets old fast.

And now, you can’t focus on the story either. I was getting pulled into PVP so often, I started losing track of where I was. Where I could clear a level or two in a half hour at night sitting down to play before, now, I’m lucky if I get through half a level in that same period of time.

So. I am not a fan of the new PVP system. When I was getting ready to write this review before that update, I was ready to give the game glowing praise because I was having fun with it. I wish it didn’t put a limit on how many monsters you can have at one time, since I’m one of those people who likes to collect one of everything. But I just used my lower level monsters to beef up the stats of my stronger ones, and it was a good time. The PVP elements pretty much single handily sucked all the fun out of it. Those elements I enjoyed are still there, but now they are buried under constant PVP battles, so you can hardly see them at all.

I think part of that is that while the game always offered items for real money to buy stronger monsters or replenish energy faster, it wasn’t required to enjoy it. Now, with the PVP, you pretty much can’t play unless you buy a lot of horns, because being out of PVP “energy” doesn’t mean you won’t keep getting the battles – you’ll just have to exit out of them, which detracts from what you really want to focus on, especially since it happens very, very frequently. I found myself going from always trying to take the longest path for loot and experience to just trying to power through the shortest route to get to the end as fast as possible.

Fun Factor:

I was having a lot of fun with the game until the update introduced PVP. It was a simple story, yes, and the gameplay was pretty repetitive, but the collection aspect, and deciding which characters to upgrade and which to sacrifice, made it interesting. I hope they find a way to strike a better balance, because at the moment, it’s more of a chore to play than fun.

Addictive:

Again, I was sitting and playing this for long stretches of time before the update. After, I found myself ready to walk away after about 10  minutes and not being able to go more than two steps forward.

Graphics:

The graphics in the game are actually very good, and are part of what adds to the overall fun factor. It’s static, in that the characters don’t move – they are like game pieces that jump along a board, rather than characters walking around. But it’s visually interesting.

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

The game doesn’t use the accelerometer or vibration, and the soundtrack was a pretty standard heroic kind of thing. I played with it on for a while, but then ended up muting it and putting on the television in the background to listen to while I played.

Should you Download Blood Brothers (RPG)? Pre-Update, I would have given this game a solid 4, and maybe a bit higher. But with the PVP detracting so much from the story and what made the game so much fun to begin with, I’m bumping it down to a 3. It’s still a decent game, but it’s not the addictive, fun collection RPG game I started off with. And honestly, I liked that game a lot better prior to introducing PVP.

the game is great, a tip, so start placing the code 7M2fzY thus gain a rare letter! The game satisfies both casual players as the hardcores, has a fair system where those who can not pay get rare cards, and even legendary epic! Remembering my code is 7M2fzY! hugs (This code is for a rare knight with a horse)
