Bloat Freezer – Root, Must Have for Rooters to Freeze Bloatware Apps Install

Bloat Freezer – Root is a must have application for rooted devices. It lets you freeze pre-installed apps also know as bloatware to help make your device run faster. By freezing the applications or bloatware instead of uninstalling them while make it easier to go back to stock so you can get over the air updates in the future.

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Freeze preinstalled applications
  • Defrost at anytime
  • Don’t risk never being able to receive Over the Air Updates
  • 2 freeze methods
  • Colored coded to show the different applications on your device
  • Ability to defrost all applications at once
  • Choose where to search for applications

Freeze that bloat that is using up all your CPU & Memory. Better than uninstalling! REQUIRES ROOTED PHONE and Android 2.0-3.0+.

Features:

Bloat Freezer is a must have application for any rooted Android devices. One reason, many people root their devices to remove the “bloatware” that comes pre-installed on devices. These bloatware applications can include anything from game demos to application suggestions and more. It is possible to remove these applications completely but then you may risk never being able to receive OTA updates in the future.

This application makes it possible to freeze the applications instead of removing them that way if you decide to, in the future, you can defrost them and make it easier to go back to stock and receive those awesome OTA updates. I greatly enjoy using this application on my myTouch4G that runs CM7. If you have a rooted device or plan on rooting your device in the future definitely check out Bloat Freezer, it is well worth the dollar.

Usefulness:

Bloat Freezer is a very useful application for rooted devices. It gives you the ability to freeze the pre-installed applications that you do not want clogging up your device and if it comes time to go back to stock you can easily defrost all the applications at once.

Ease of Use:

This is a very easy application to use. Thanks to the color coding scheme you can easily distinguish the difference between those applications that came pre-installed from those you installed yourself.  To freeze an application all you have to do is select it and the same goes for defrosting.

Frequently Used:

I personally have only really used this application once due to it freezing the apps that I do not want running on my phone. Basically you just freeze what you want and leave it be until the time comes to defrost those apps. One of those set it and forget it Android apps!

Interface:

The interface is very simple and easy to understand. At the bottom of the application when you open it it shows you which apps are pre-installed, which ones are running, and which ones are frozen. Very clean, easy and simple.

Should you Download Bloat Freezer – Root? If you have a rooted Android device or plan on rooting your device I highly reccomend spending the buck to be able to freeze those pesky applications without risking your phone’s future of receiving carrier over the air updates.

Whilst it does sound like a useful and effective app, for a number of root users it will be somewhat redundant as the same functionality can already be found within the ever impressive titanium backup. Admittedly, titanium is a more expensive app but most who are planning to flash new ROMs will need to have it anyway.

I have my mT4G rooted and running CM7 and have had not had to use Titanium Backup. I prefer Bloat Freezer.
