Birzzle is an insanely addictive yet cute as pie puzzle game on Android. Simply line up 3 or more birds of the same color together and watch them pop! The graphics are great; nice and bright, detailed and very cute. The gameplay rocks and has a very high addiction factor. Very similar in feel to popular Android and online games like Chuzzle, Birzzle is a fantastically challenging and fun game for all ages.

Features:
Birzzle is a fun game where you have to collect 3 birds of the same color together for them to pop and disappear. You do this by dragging them around the screen and dropping them into the groups. You score more points if you get 4 or 5 birds to pop together, as well as extra bonuses and more destructive boosts! The game is a kind of fusion between Bejeweled and Chuzzle, so if you like either of these games, Birzzle will be right up your street.
The game is delivered in 2 modes: Classic and Ice Break. There is a 3rd mode on the way ‘Pandora’, and this will be in a future update. Classic mode is simple enough, drag the birds around by holding them and moving them to the place you want. If you create a group of 3 or more they pop and disappear. Every so often more birds will fall into the gameplay area and you have to keep removing birds until you run out of space at the top, similar to Tetris. Ice Break is slightly different in that the birds come from above one by one and you have to place them individually, a bit like playing Connect 4! The major difference is that you only have 60 seconds to accumulate as many points as you can, a great option for casual gaming.
It’s not completely simple because, as you progress you get some of the staple hindrances of such games. So, for example you have birds that are locked in place and cannot be moved. If you get a group of 4 or 5 birds to explode, one of these will become a special bird; normally signified by a glowing of some kind. These special birds become more destructive, either by destroying extra birds around it or frying other birds within the same row, etc. All the explosions are very detailed and rewarding. They look great and are a superb aspect of the game.
The game is very simple and most of my family have become somewhat addicted to it, as have I. There is something incredibly pleasing about the ‘pop’ sound the bird makes when they explode and the gentle cooing noise they make when being moved. There’s lots of detail in the graphics, the falling feathers after each pop, the little shaking movements they make before they go, etc. It makes for a delightfully immersive and fun experience and something gamers of all ages can get stuck into.
If you sign into your Facebook account in-game you can view and access the global leaderboards. There’s no Openfeint scoring here, which is a shame, but the gameplay is obviously unaffected by this. The game is free so does include ads, but there are pretty unobtrusive and you don’t really notice them much.

Fun Factor:
Birzzle delivers fun in buckets. Gameplay is relatively simple and it’s quite easy to progress through the levels initially. However the further you get the trickier the game becomes as extra bird colors are added and it becomes harder to group them. The sound, the cute-but-detailed graphics and simple gameplay make Birzzle loads of fun to play and hugely addictive.
Addictive:
Birzzle has a very high addictiveness factor. Because it’s easy to get into and gameplay is so mesmerizingly compulsive, you can easily lose hours playing a game like this. It’s built for that addictive effect too, it’s a combination of Chuzzle, Tetris and Bejewelled so you have a trinity of incredibly addictive influences in Birzzle. Because of the fun-factor it’s a game you’ll want to keep coming back to again and again.
Graphics:
The graphics are of high quality and there are various explosive effects worth looking out for. The pops leave this delicious residue of feathers and some of the bonuses, which take out more birds, are pretty incredible. This is all delivered in a very bright and primary colored hues.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
You do have the option to ‘switch on’ vibrate mode, but I found it doesn’t actually do anything. The sound is superb, lots of fun, a cute ditty soundtrack and various sounds and effects when the birds explode, move, etc. There’s also a warning sound buzzer when the birds get close to the top of the screen which fits into the game nicely too. Look out for the cute-as-hell “uh-oh” sounds they make!
