aVia Media Player is a smart and easy-to-use multimedia player for your Android device. Access and play your photographs, music and videos through a great user interface. You can also manage your media files in a variety of ways; from making playlists to accessing your localised content via a DLNA server. While you might currently use two or maybe three different apps for pics, music and video, having all these ‘under one roof’ is a simple way to manage your content.
Price: Free
Tested on: HTC Desire HD

Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Access pictures, videos and music in one app!
- Comprehensive media file management!
- Easy to use!
- Access to variety of additional sources: DLNA server, Facebook and Picasa!
- Has a homescreen widget!
Cons
- UI is incredibly stable, but isn’t as visually impressive as other players.
- Some images do not show in grid mode.
- Doesn’t play certain file types, e.g. AVI.
Features:
aVia Media Player is a remarkably stable and intuitive media player that make accessing your media files, whether they be videos, music or videos, very simple. This ‘all under one roof’ factor is quite cool and your initial screen gives you clear options to choose which form of media you want. From there you get a series of buttons that relate to the chosen media. In Music you get: All songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlists and Ratings. With both Photos and Videos you get the choice of All, Folders, by Date, Playlists and Ratings.
You can source your media files from various places. Naturally your device but it also allows for streaming via a DLNA server once set up. You can also sign into your Facebook or Picasa accounts and access your photos there too. In this way the app goes beyond a typical media player in that you are not solely reliant on your device memory potentially giving you access to mountains of content stored externally.
It’s incredibly easy to use and mostly very intuitive. I did notice that photos do not always display in grid view, you instead have to go into them to see what they are but, this aside, the app is pretty slick. The UI is very good but perhaps not as dazzling or sharp as some apps. aVia Media Player is a jack-of-all-trades in many respects but not really a master of any. There are better music, streaming, photo viewers and video players out there with far richer UI and functionality- but these are all individual apps rather than being a multi-functional Swiss army-knife like aVia Media Player. My advice would be this; if you want to keep your media management simple and useful, definitely give aVia Media Player a look. It’s free and works very well.

Usefulness:
Great for quick and simple access to all your media files. Music tracks, for example are easy to organise into playlists. The app doesn’t play some file types, however, such as AVI video files, and this might be a killer for some people but for straightforward and stable usability, it’s pretty superb.
Ease of Use:
aVia Media Player is extremely easy to use and navigate around. Tabs are boldly displayed and there’s never a point where you get ‘lost’. I wished there was the ability to add a music track to a playlist from the music track itself; instead you have to add tracks from within the playlist (if that makes sense), but this aside the app is generally intuitive.
Frequently Used:
You would arguably get more use out of this kind of app than other media players as it houses all your pictures, videos and music under the one roof. It’s very quick and responsive and works perfectly so you might easily use this on a daily basis if so inclined.
Interface:
The interface is good without being amazing. You might need only go as far as apps like PowerAMP, RealPlayer, QuickPic, Lightbox, MX Video and Air Sync to find better examples of UI. Perhaps one of the key strengths of aVia Media player is that, unless you’re pedantically fussy about features, rich experience and functionality, you can access all you need within the one app, rather than flit between many.
