Features:

ASMS Android App is a good alternative texting app. It couples the convenience of pop up text message with instant reply from the same prompt… no need to launch an app. There’s also a virtual soft keyboard. It offers basic SMS text translation upon sending and/or receiving. Don’t expect the translation to be exactly as your conversation, but like many translation services, it’s a word-for-word translation.

Usefulness:

aSMS has Popup & Reply feature that is very useful. You have the option to reply directly from the popup or go to the virtual keyboard.

Ease of Use & Frequently Used:

aSMS is pretty straight forward and has the standard LED & vibration notifications, alert sounds/ringtone selection, and even add a signature. If you use more than one SMS text messaging app, you will want to disable notifications on the SMS app(s) not used as the primary texting app, else you’ll get double notifications. Intended for use with every text message. We recommend not running aSMS in conjunction with SMS Popup to avoid double popup.

Gripe Alert: It could benefit from auto capitalizing the first typed letter when instant replying from the popup. We couldn’t launch the virtual soft keyboard from the popup prompt, yet had to launch the app to get to it.
