Ask NerdGirl: Using Cruz Reader with AppBrain, Batch Photo App to Upload to Blogger, How to Root Samsung Acclaim, and How to Sync Yahoo Contacts to Android

Ask NerdGirl answers is it possible to use a Cruz Reader with AppBrain, any batch photo apps to upload to Blogger? How to root Samsung Acclaim, and how to sync Yahoo contacts to Android?

Hi,
I just received a Cruz tablet last month and I’m having difficulties downloading games…….I’ve been able to download & install a couple of games thru the Cruz Market however when trying to download several games from the internet site App Brain I’m not able to do so. Do I need another app market in order to do this? It’s all very confusing to me. I’ve been able to download Angry Birds but it will not install. I don’t find this tablet to be very user friendly (downloaded the guide for the tablet but that was very limited) and I’m becoming very frustrated trying to figure it out. I need step by step instructions on how to use it and install “stuff” and how to sync my music from my computer to the tablet. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

Linda Stanley

Linda I’ll split that into two questions. First, you will not be able to use AppBrain for the Cruz Reader as it acts as a bridge to Google’s Android Market, which the Cruz Reader does not have access to. Unfortunately you will have to find apps and games inside the Cruz Market. Otherwise the only other way to install apps is either directly receiving app APK file or using alternative markets like GetJar, AndAppStore, SlideMe, or Amazon’s soon to release app store. In order to install these apps directly you will have to go to your Settings » Applications » then check “Unknown sources”.

As I’ve stated in a previous post about the Cruz Reader, it is intended mainly for eBooks with web and multimedia capabilities so I wouldn’t expect it to function like an Android tablet.

Second, plug your USB cable from your Cruz Reader to your computer. Once connected you should see “USB connected” in the notifications window shade above. Tap that and select “Turn on USB storage” button. Now you can drag and drop your music files from your computer to eReaders’ SD card storage.

Hi! I’m new to android. I have a few photos on my phone that I’d like to send to a post on blogger. Is there any simple way to do that? Bloggeroid seems to want to post one photo at a time to a blog post of its very own, requiring 12 posts for 12 photos. I want to select all 12 photos, hopefully all at once rather than 1 at a time, and upload them. It sounds so sinple. Is there any way to do this? Thanks.

Bob C

Pixelpipe Upload & Post app seems to do batch photo upload to Blogger. I personally haven’t tested this Bob as we’re running out of the wonderful WordPress!

Hello,

I am having an issue and I don’t know if you can help :)

I live a VERY BUSY life and I have 2 gmail accounts along with a facebook page and 2 yahoo accounts and would like them to be all synced to my LG (lets say Ally) but its the US Cellular version. Is this possible? I know my yahoo was recently synced but my gmail account started vamping up on in coming emails so now I cant get it to come back. When I go into sync in the settings it doe not give me an option to choose only says sync contacts. Please help and tell me there is a possibility of a great outcome :)

Thanks,
Brooke

Just to clarify Brooke, going into the settings and pressing “Sync” attempts to check for new email. This is not the same as syncing contacts. Now you would need to download Yahoo Mail for Android app to manage your two Yahoo emails. Lastly, download YContact app to sync your Yahoo contacts to your Android phone. You can do this for free by going online and exporting your Yahoo contacts into a CSV file then importing into your Gmail account associated with your Android phone.
