Ask NerdGirl: is Epic 4G Getting Froyo, How to Set Vibrate with Notifications, and Samsung Android Phones Lack LED Notifications
Mar 8, 2011 8:00 AM –
Ask NerdGirl asks and answers when will Sprint Epic 4G get Android 2.2 Froyo? How do I set notifications to vibrate and the Epic 4G doesn’t have LED notifications!
Hello nerdgirl, I imagine you haver been asked this many times but do you know when Sprint will release froyo for Epic? Also is there a safe way to install it now?
Well Dylan… Sprint/Samsung giveth and taketh this update away. Quote from the post to date:
The upgrade to Android 2.2 (EB13) was suspended on 2/24 due to issues experienced by a small number of customers. The upgrade is no longer available over-the-air or from Samsung’s website. Additional information will be posted on the community when it becomes available.
We’ll keep an eye on this and will surely have a news post on it when/if things change.
I recently bought my new Motorola Backflip phone, and I havent yet figured out how to get my ‘notifications’ and SMS Messaging alerts on Vibrate. My incoming calls vibrate fine. Its just the messaging bit that I cant find. Please help me
You should be able to find that in Settings » Sound & display » under “Vibrate”.
Message reminders. I have a Samsung phone. Doesn’t have message reminders as a feature. Is there a download or software to easily add this
Sucks that to date no Android phone by Samsung has a blinky notification (LED)! This drives me nuts! 😡 However, Albert there is an app for that. NoLED places either small colored dots or colored icons for notifications on a black screen. I’ve personally stayed away if fear of long term usage would degrade the screen faster and kill battery life as this app technically turns your screen on just makes it the color black with periodically moving, colored icons.
