No really though, for screenshots: what a palaver! I still can't get it working. It looked like I also had to download some HUGE Java developer install thing and run through all sorts of setup for that just to get started. That didn't work, so I uninstalled that and installed jdk-6u20-windows-i586 but I still get an error message when I try to run ddms on my Windows 7 box:

\Documents\android-sdk-windows\tools>ddms

WARNING: Java not found in your path.
Checking it it's installed in C:\Program Files\Java instead.

ERROR: No suitable Java found. In order to properly use the Android Developer
Tools, you need a suitable version of Java installed on your system. We
recommend that you install the JDK version of JavaSE, available here:

At this point I give up...

@John has mentioned dxTop as a launcher replacement. Although, not free, it does include the ability to capture a screenshot by long-pressing the camera button or the center button / trackpad.

On my Samsung Spica, it worked without the need for root and on Cupcake and now with Eclair too.

There is an even better home replacement, and is called ADW Launcher free in the market.
Is very hard to decide between this and the Launcher Pro.
Open Home, Pandahome,Dxtop ,aHome,Freshhome are a thing of the past.
GDE is slow. Home++ good on Droids but never updated.
HelixLauncher updates are not public, only to donators, but still good.
Not excellent as the 2 LauncherPro and ADW Launcher.

Above comments for screenshots.Leave step 4 out.
