Yes you read the title correctly we’ve got Android 1.5 and Android 1.6 questions! I’m taking a blast to Android’s past to answer how to upgrade Android 1.5 to 1.6 (if possible), upgrading an Android 1.6 tablet, plus are there any calendar apps similar to Blackberry Tour, and my app download gets stuck… what’s a guy to do?!?
I have two phones with Android 1.5
How can I move from 1.5 to 1.6 ?
Can you help me?
I am from Mexico:
The providers are: Nextel and Telcel
Thanks anticipated
Roberto Ruiz
Is scratching head at this one and now see how or why monthly stats we report on Android version saturation still holds onto 7.9% (Android 1.6) and 4.7% (Android 1.5) market share. I’m sorry I cannot give the most accurate answer without knowing your phone models. Even knowing that may or may not lead to a dead end as your device manufacturer or carrier may have placed a custom UI atop Android, so if a crafty hacker did not create an upgrade ROM with upgrade instruction, I doubt your carrier ever will seeing as those though your seeking 1.6 versus 2.2+ like everyone else in the world (well… at least us thirsty Americans are).
I own a chinese marticom7 7 inch tablet
Hi Is there any where on the web where I can upgrade my tablet from 1.6 to a 2 operating system? If not then what does a guy do now? New flash or what. Where do I get help?
Thanks for you help,
Allen Gregory
Allen I hate to be so blunt but it looks like you’re stuck unless the device maker rolls out an update. Note to self… stay away from buying cheap Android tablets because you get what you pay for. We’ve seen our fair share of clueless Android-based tablets that popped up at CES 2011 even wrote a tablet buying guide to help buyers. I’d recommend buying trusted brands with an incentive to offer updates or has a large enough developer community interest that will hack their way to an update.
Hey Nerdgirl,
I’m looking for a calendar that is most like the one I had on my Blackberry Tour. All the calendars I’ve looked at for the Droid X, which I just got a couple of days ago, aren’t easy to go through and look weird. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Tonia
Tonia I’m not familiar with the calendar on the Tour because see… I’m a Droid kinda gal
There are a few calendar apps to recommend but I would first recommend getting acquainted with Android’s calendar style and features. No… it’s not as sexy as calendars on other mobile OS but gets the job done.
There are several viewing options for your calendar; Day, Week, Month and Agenda views. Toggle each to see which displays best for you (I personally like Week view). To enter a calendar entry, either “longpress” a time slot or go through the menu options to enter a new event. From there you will be presented with virtually every option needed to set a calendar event including inviting others for say a meeting.
Dear Nerdgirl,
As soon as I’m starting the Market app and tap on the “downloads”-tab Google Maps are trying to update itself and always fails. The application file are redownloaded every single time and then gets stuck at 100% and never installs. When I’m trying to cancel the download the market-app hangs itself. What do I do??
Sincerely
Fredrik, Sweden
Fredrik I’ve had this happen on occasion and I simply turned the phone off then back on again. Retry the download and presto!
