I’m so happy to hear that more and more phones are getting to taste Froyo everyday! I’ve been getting to play with it on an HTC EVO 4G and even without 4G in my area (or anywhere in Ohio) everything is so much faster! As soon as your phone can download 2.2 DO IT!
I am smartphone shopping and have been pushed towards the Blackberry as I will be checking college email and using the calendar the most. After talking to people with Droids I am leaning that way.
Are there better calendar apps out there that I can download than what comes on the Droid? (Assuming the one on the phone is that much less than what is on the Blackberry). I am an organizer that wants to be able to see what each day holds (a month view preferred).

There are a TON of calendar apps. For you I think a widget app like Pure Calendar would work very well for you. It still works with the standard Google Calendar plus it works with Exchange as well! It is $1.92 but with the functionality it adds, and the customizable layout for the widget, less than $2.00 is totally worth it. Don’t let the calendar be the thing that stops you from becoming part of the Android community!
How do you root the IS01?
Unfortunately, the Sharp IS01 is one of the phones that can not be rooted right now. Not really that it can’t. It’s more that the more popular phones are worked on first and since the IS01 hasn’t taken root (pardon the pun) in a widespread market, there is no working root process as of now.
My wife has been using, on her Palm smartphone, a database application that can import Microsoft Access databases. She would like to switch to an Android phone, but I haven’t been able to find a database app that seems to be comparable. Do you know of any apps we should look at for this purpose? She uses Access extensively on her desktop, so compatibility is essential.
We’re both new to smartphone apps, so any suggestions for methods of locating apps would also be really appreciated.

I found one app that is the answer to your problem. It’s called Wireless Database Viewer Plus. It’s free and is compatible with Microsoft Access, Excel, Oracle, SQL, and any other ODBC compliant databases.
As far as searching for apps, I found that if I’m looking for something very specific, using a site on your computer like our very own apps.androidtapp.com or AppBrain makes it a whole lot easier.

Still loving the advice and my HTC Desire. Can you tell me what the maximum size of SD card is that I can use on my Desire please?
The biggest microSD card you can use in the Desire is a whopping 32 GB! That’s more than 10,000 pictures!
It seems that I am able to store and run apps from my SD card. Is this the case?

Some people do have Android 2.2 installed for the Desire. If you do then yes, you can…in most cases! I wrote about how to go about this in a previous article. It’s very simple!
