Ask NerdGirl Android questions asks and answers what are the best translation apps, how to enter personal or work calendars. Can I get rid of bloatware Apps? Plus is there a list of most stable Android apps for rooters?
Can you please advise me on the best translation app for my droid x? I have visitors in from Russia who don’t speak English and I was hoping an app could help me communicate with them. I saw that Tranzilla was free, but wasn’t sure it did Russian to English and vice versa.
Thanks a lot!

Try Google Translate or Talk to Me Android apps!
Dear NerdGirl,
I just got an android phone and have two gmail accounts, one personal and one work. I set both accounts to sync with my calendar, but when I put a new calendar event on my phone, it automatically puts the event in my work calendar. Is there a way for me to set events to different gmail accounts? I’d rather put my haircut appointments in the personal calendar instead of the work one…
Thanks!
Lyn
That’s an easy fix Lyn! With Android phones with more than one account and entering from the phone, there lies the option on the new calendar entry screen between “Description” and “Guests” is “Calendar” drop down list to select which Gmail account to apply the calendar entry to. Note: after the entry is saved, you won’t have the same drop down list to shift between personal and work calendars.
I have an EPICG4 and I have not been able to get this app to be managed in the manage apps window, and I want to get rid of it. It takes up memory, and I am never going to use it. I have not run the demo yet, and I don’t want to. I am annoyed this thing is on there and can’t be removed. Help and Thanks

Some call it bloatware… some like it. Unfortunately it’s one of those apps your carrier Sprint pre-installed. So without rooting the phone you won’t be able to get rid of it nor Android apps like Sprint TV.
Dear Nerdgirl,
My rooted DroidX (OTA) 2.2 is incredibly “glitchy”
I’m was trying to get it down to the bare bones for speed.
Now I’d be happy without all the significant delays.
I’m hoping for a list of the MOST STABLE of all the android apps
Any advice?
Thank you from a loyal fan.

To be honest there are partial lists all over the inter-webs. I would suggest going back to the root of the problem which seems to be an unstable root on your DROID X.
