I finally got a team to help me with your Android questions; newbie or advanced so here are a fresh quartet of Q&A!
hi Nerdgirl….
first of all Sorry for My english, hope you’ll understand
I am a proud and angry (towards Sony Ericsson) owner of an X10 mini (updated to 2.1 (-.-) and rooted)
and I was just wandering how app2sd works..
i took a look at this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833722
but some questions came to my mind…
I now have lots of stuff installed on my x10 mini would this be a problem?
after apps2sd install can I remove them from the phone and reinstall on sd?
can i choose on install where to place an app (internal memory / SD)?
if sd is removed and phone started it would be a real mess?
can i move apps from internal memory to sd Manually without too much hassles?
On firmware update will I loose (the link to) the applications installed on SD?
thank you for your reply as you can see I’m very confused…
Giuliano
Whoa Giuliano… you loaded me up LOL! There’s an XDA Developers thread for X10 Mini Apps2SD tutorial here. You shouldn’t have problems with a lot of stuff, I’m assuming apps with your rooted X10 Mini as long as you have a stable root. According to the live-list thread, some apps can be safely removed while others don’t play so nice. You will be able to to move apps from internal memory to SD Card. Only apps on SD won’t be operable if the card is pulled and they were moved there. In theory you shouldn’t lose the apps on SD but be sure to consult the guides of the firmware you’re updating. Hope that helps with most of you questions!
Hello,
Is there an ap released yet that will allow me to conect and talk through my wifi when at home. I have poor reception in my home. I heard that they should be releasing one soon.
Thanks!
Jude
Hi Jude, at the time you emailed me I wouldn’t have the best answer for you. But Line2 has been released for Android recently. There’s a free 30 day trial then $9.95 a month thereafter. It allows you to make calls over WiFi plus a few other perks like a second phone number, visual voicemail and lower rates on International calls.
Hi nerdgirl
I read today in one of your posts about a user asking for a collection app for both pc and android. Although out doesn’t allow editing yet on android, gcstar has a crossplatform app with and android viewer. It’s not yet a perfect solution but it’s a start.
Hope it helps.
Cheers
Pedro.
I’m still looking for that same type of app Pedro
I believe you were referring to this post. GCStar would be the best solution except they only offer a viewer app for Android. Does anyone know of a good app? Drop us a line in the comments.
I had a Google account but could not access. Since they don’t allow you to talk to a person, I set up another Gmail account. Now they are conflicting. I cannot log into the first, but my Android thinks it is still the correct email. I am trying to sync calendar from Outlook to phone and can’t recognize the active Gmail. My understanding is calendar would have to sync from Outlook to Gmail that would then sync with DroidX. What do I do in simple words?
Thanks,
Kirk
Let’s try to untangle that knot Kirk, that’s a multifaceted issue. Maybe recovering the first Gmail account could solve your issues, here Google’s password recovery page. My second recommendation is to go from a clean slate with the second Gmail account by factory reseting your phone.
But if you don’t want to start fresh and proceed with both accounts it’s possible. If you want to throw in the towel on the first Gmail account (for everything other then phone activation) and only use the second for calendar; take a trip to Settings » Accounts & sync » select your first account and uncheck “Calendar”. Then be sure the second Gmail account has Calendar checked. To sync your phone’s Gmail calendar with your Outlook both ways, check out our article How to Sync your Outlook Calendar, Google Calendar and Android Phone Calendar.
