ARCHOS 8.0 G9 Android Tablet

ARCHOS 8.0 G9 Android Tablet will debut as the 8 inch flavor of ARCHOS 10.1 G9 Android Tablet in late September 2011. This portable version starts at $249 and great for web browsing, as an ebook and newspaper reader with its 1024 x 768 resolution 4:3 screen. Impressive specs tout this tablet as the fastest on paper with whopping 1.5 GHz dual-core OMAP 4 processor from Texas Instruments. It comes with 250 GB hard drive versus the standard 32 GB other tablets offer. Plus it is able to decode 1080p H264 High Profile videos versus the 720p H264 High Profile videos other tablets stumble on claims Archos. The tablet comes with an option to upgrade for $49 bucks with a 3G USB dongle that conveniently fits in the back of the tablet versus having to choose either Wi-Fi or 3G version at purchase.

Besides the impressive specs, if you’re familiar with Archos tablets from the past, then you know they were limited to not being able to access the official Android Market for Android apps, this is no longer the case plus this will hopefully ship with Android 3.1 (Honeycomb) with Google’s blessing.

On paper this tablet is really impressive. We’ll get a first hands-on next week with pics & vids to let you know how it performs!
