It’s actually the opposite of that. AppBrain’s website obtains and lists all information about apps from Google’s Android Market, however, does not have the actual apps for download. They only shortcut link your phone to the apps in Google’s Android Market. It’s dependent on your phone to connect to the Market for the actually downloads.

If a user is browsing Market applications from the web, downloading them to their PC, and would synch them to the mobile phone later, why is mobile device access to the Market required? Seems like the mobile hand set is getting it’s updates from the PC. Just wondering…

Help me please.. I installed AppBrain on my Samsung Captivate recently, along with several other applications from AppBrain. 5 days later my phone fried. I got a new phone the exact same model, Samsung Captivate Galaxy S. I cannot uninstall from the old phone as it is cooked. I am trying to do an un-install so I can re-install to my new phone. This is a catch-22. Is there a way to just re-install to a new phone? Thank you.

The website is bouncing and the app is returning “error contacting AppBrain server

Google may have fixed your page but the market is down, so i want to know if there is anywhere to download an APK file withe the AppBrain Market Sync app on it.
This would be a great help as the market has been down for nearly a month!

Currently we have no such API. Also our own app uses the Google Android Market app for installing the apps selected on the website. It would be great if Google would offer an API to manage the installs directly.

Question to Uwe or AppBrain:
Do you have a public API that developers can tie into, so that apps can request installs of libraries/services/etc from the market without going through the Android Market.

E.g. a user installs a (free) app that needs a particular Service. This Service is available on the Market. Currently, an app can present a dialog that takes the user to the Android Market and have him/her download the Service from there. This takes quite a few steps and takes the user out of the application. It would be nice if it could be done all with a developer’s application.
