AndroidTapp.com Android App Review:
Pros & Cons:
Pros
- Protect any Android app with PIN code or swipe gesture password!
- Customize which apps are or are not protected!
- Password Recovery!
- This type of app is something iPhone users can never have!
Cons
- Cannot customize portions of app features to protect.
Features:
App Protector Android App protects any app on your phone forcing entry of correct PIN code password. Similar to Protector. This app has come along way since we initially reviewed it, we consider it a “must have app” if you would like to protect sensitive data or specific apps on your Android. For example, you can use it to lock your Gallery of photos, say if you hand your phone to kids or your friends. Additionally, it can be used to protect sensitive information in email & documents.
The protection is really good and even blocks the tiny screenshot previews you get on Android 4 and higher devices, to show the pin code keypad. I did notice from time to time, when accessing a protected app, for a fraction of a second the intended app will show then App Protector pin code kicks in. Minor but it does show. Lastly, unlike aforementioned Protector app, you cannot toggle individual features, just the whole app. For example, you might want to lock your contacts but not your dial pad.
It features password recovery by emailing. Plus you can put some automation on it to auto-lock apps when you reach a certain destination, say when you get to work or home, but do note it has to be configure with the Locale Plugin and Tasker Plugin which is included. This type of app is something iPhone users can never have unless that ‘Jailbreak’ their phone, with Android- it’s simple install (no rooting required!)
