AndroidTapp.com Android Game Review:

Pros & Cons:

Pros

  • Very fun, challenging and addictive game which makes it so popular
  • Really smooth game graphics and game play

Features:

Angry Birds is one of the most popular games for iPhone and has made its way to Android. Your objective is to sling up to five angry birds at a loosely made structure with pigs inside and destroy it all giving the birds their vengeance. Get bonus points for destroying it all with birds left over, else if you don’t destroy it all and use all your birds you fail the round.

Fun Factor & Addictive:

What makes this game a hit is how easily it becomes addictive and can have you spending hours figuring out best possible ways to destroy the structures in the least possible slings.

Graphics:

Angry Birds on Android has the same super smooth graphics and game play as on iPhone. The stages can be panned around to get a better idea of where you need to strike, merge that with fluid parallax movement and vibrant vector graphics and you’ve got a lively winner!

Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:

Angry Birds features background sound effect snickers, which sound familiar to Gizmo and Gremlin tauts from the classic Steven Spielberg movies, that can be toggled.

    I hope you actually played the game you reviewed here. Not a single screenshot here is from the Android OS beta. credibility–;

I have Angry Birds running on an HTC Incredible w/ 2.2. The game has difficulties opening and typically got caught on the title screen and closed. I followed one suggestion to move it to the phone then back to the SD Card…oddly enough, that worked for a little while. I followed another suggestion that called for you to move your thumbs around on the title screen…it sounds odd, but seems to work.

I think the gameplay is great (once you can get into it)…absolutely no complaints there. However, I have noticed a sharp decrease in abttery life when I’ve played Angry Birds. I usually get 12 hours out of the stock battery, but after 15-20 minutes of AB, I end up having to charge after 6…and I can’t think of anything abnormal that I did that would have contributed.

As an HTC Evo user, I’m having the force close issue. Also, the application installed to the SD card automatically. I found that somewhat awkward but hopefully they can fix it soon so I can get it to work.

Samsung Galaxy phone owners are having a fair amount of problems as well it seems whether it’s having errors or being able to even find it on the market. Thought I would just mention that for any Samsung owners wondering wtf.

I found the app by searching the web. Had to download it to my computer 1st. Sorry, can’t remember where, but try the search. Good luck.
Also, worked ok on my Hero 2.1. Then installed custom Rom CM6 (Froyo 2.2) still works. Ocassional freezing on both versions, but rare. Running finger over home screen does help to prevent problems.

Do you have the Android Market installed? Because I found it right there myself. If not, I’d search for that and download Android Market for your phone first, it’ll make finding and downloading apps that much easier. I found it on the Android Market, and within minutes I was playing it. Hopefully that’ll help you out too.

I have a samsung epic and I’m having problems finding the full version as well. Love the game! If only the demo is out for this phone then why is there an option to buy the full version on the demo start screen? It doesn’t direct me anywhere to buy it.

Jakob you can use the getjar site to download the game although they are having server issues because of how many people are wanting to download it from them.

I downloaded from them just fine though.

The easiest way is to go to http://m.getjar.com on your phone directly and then find the game a download straight to your phone.

This game runs smoothly on my HTC EVO for the most part, ever since the update that is, before I will say that I had some serious issues with frame-rate hiccups, but once the update was in place, the game has been running alot more smoothly. No force close issues here at all.

Oh yeah, as for the game itself? It is hilarious! The birds rock, I love how they all have their own distinct abilities, like the red one has laughter to weaken a structure, blue can divide into threes and cause that much more damage, etc. And I LOVE how the pigs laugh at you with their snorkeling laughter and taunt you with it if any of them survive the initial onslaught from the birds. Annoying yet hilarious. And of course, the “Level Failed” sound effect of the pigs all collaberating with laughter both infuriates you, and yet has you splitting your sides with laughter. Props to whomever came up with the pig sounds, absolutely brilliant.

For a game with no dialogue, the personality is just bursting at the seams. While I don’t like how the franchise is being over-saturated really bad, the game itself rocks. Easily one of the best mobile phone games I’ve had the honour of playing.

I believe it was the second to last update on the Evo that remove the framerate cap and improved video and graphic quality quite a bit! It makes playing Angry Birds a lot more enjoyable :)
