What an excellent idea for a holiday competition! I’d been trying to get my hands on a demo-unit for the G1 in a few t-mobile shops near me, and none of them had any available, one of them even claiming someone ran off with theirs (which is something to keep in mind, if you want one for free
)

I am a father of four kids and i barely have time to do anything for myself.This is the one thing i really would like to have but cant afford right now. With the new G1 I could manage my life out a little better and schedule my family activities a whole lot better

Of course, I’d like to win a free G1, otherwise I’m holding out until the G2 is released in the spring. Supposedly, they’ll be adding some of the functions, such as WiFi, that should have been included in the first model, and, if the pictures are accurate, it’s much better looking.
There’s three things I’d like to say:

2. I have to say, Your Signup/Registration process was the most efficient I’ve EVER seen in my life I was signed up in less than 15seconds!!

I would love a gift like this. The Android software is excellent and will take the cell phone industry by storm. The only gripe I have is the design of the G1. I sure hope HTC is redesigning it to look like the HTC Touch HD. But the G1 is the bomb. Come on let me win I need a new phone.

This seems like a miracle. Being an HTC fan for 5 years now, i have vigorously used up my sp5m to the point where the joy stick refuses to work without being tapped atleast 5 times. I have been drooling over the G1 for 4 months now, but being in med school has left me with almost no money to buy a decent phone. I really hope i win this…Amen.

@jeyges The G1 already has Wifi and it works quite well or so my co-workers say. I could not tell you since I do not have one yet. From everything I have heard from other websites and from my inside person at T-Mobile. the G2 will not be out for a while.

My wife wants a Tmobile G1 Phone so bad!!! Christmas has been really hard this year with the new baby and all. I’m going on deployment soon and the Tmobile G1 would be perfect for my wife to email me while I’m gone.
I got my hands on one at a local big box retailer and I have to say, it was much more impressive than an iPhone. Give it a year and Android will the THE smartphone OS.

strange, T-Mobile is from Germany and has a pretty strong market position, also here in Austria…
I’ll wait for the 2nd gen phones however…need a good replacement for my E61, and Android surely looks promising… and for those who remember, Android is the brain child of a former BeOS-employee, who also created Danger (the HipTop)… and the API looks very positively BeOS-inspired (messaging everywhere, open and dynamic, clean and approachable)… hope 2009 will bring Android its deserved position at the cost of the iPhone…,-)

I dont know if anyone can imagine how much i want a G1. been reading about it in dozens of forums including this one and i dont think i will ever be satisfied with another phone. android is the best mobile OS ever limitless potential. i would be so nice if the give out a developer’s phone, i like the design on the back and its already unlocked.
**Important Note** i hope that if they don’t send a developer’s phone that the build number is ‘RC29′ or earlier because if it already ‘RC30′ you can not get ‘root’ access and the limitless potential isn’t so limitless

When the Google G2 will be launched?
I love my G1. It’s the best phone I have had so far, and I’m always getting the best phones from different carriers. The G1 is not a perfect phone, but with all the features and capabilities, it puts other phones to shame. I would love to have a second one of these bad boys.
The T-mobile G1 is an outstanding device and the outlook is great for the mobile device market, it has made everyone step up to the plate it”s absolute a win win for all.

Hey i signed up, I know things aren’t going that well with the economy and my family has taken a huge hit. The t mobile g1 was my only present this christmas and it was already stolen. Unfortunetly, my parents do not have the money to get a new one, and we did not have insurance on it. I was googling a way to get one for free and this is my only hope. This is NOT to get sympathy I have to come straight out and say that even if I get a free small phone I would appreciate it. I was so excited and I got it taken away. I don’t know your website or anything but I promise that if I get this phone or even a small flip phone for T Mobile since I already have a plan I will love it so much and appreciate it. I’m getting an iPhone 3g tomorrow. I had a G1 last month but had to return it since my contract isn’t up till next April; I can upgrade tomorrow. I’ll use the new G1 and unlock it to AT&T and wait for the new battery….my biggest gripe was the low battery life.

I’ve never even seen a G1. I’m definitely excited. Maybe I’ll win! It’ll be a first!
None of the T-Mobile retailers in my town sell the G1 and I want one desperately. I’ve even convinced my wife that she wants one too so if the time comes that we get enough money for the phone she’s less likely to say no.
I also have a pretty good idea for a game/app for the Android platform. I’m teaching myself Java right now so i can eventually make it. I’d prefer a Dev phone but would still be tickled pink with the good ol’ G1.

I would love a free g1
First that I have heard of G1, android, and this site. This has been very helpful as I am looking to switch from just a cell phone (love my nokia) as it is no longer possible to leave work at work. Plus it is positively addicting to have access to the internet where ever you are! Not a techie, so unless my son-in-law want to help out, I probably wouldn’t need the developer version… Cool concept contest! Yes! I would love to win a G1.
Have spent most of the day searching comments on the G1 haveing decided it is time to upgrade beyond a standard phone. Is this the best phone for accessing work emails, with file attachments? Anyone know? Wasn’t real clear in what I read as to whether a Trio or blackberry is geared more toward work applications. Gotta tell ya though, really want the G1 to be the right phone. It is way cool. Don’t even mind that the lack of touch screen keyboard. Texting on my little nokia has been a pain…so this will be amazing.
Currently my Nokia says it has 5 hrs talk time on the battery. Thoughts on whether the G1 battery capacity is a huge issue? I am usually in the office and wouldn’t use it there. This is mainly for if I am out at meetings, I can quickly access a file, or if out of town, wouldn’t lug my laptop along…I am ready to start begging…No, not really. Sounds like some people really need it. I just want it:)

@Sady43 To be honest, this is not the greatest phone for accessing work email, as corporate email support is lacking. Google is aware of this huge issue and are trying to address it. For now, there’s work-arounds.
Unlike Blackberry, the email is not “pushed” to your device the instant it comes. Instead, you have to have your work/regular email auto forwarded to Gmail (or in reverse have Gmail automattically go get your work/regular email… because you need a Gmail account to use the phone) and the phone auto checks Gmail. The POP3 and IMAP email clients on the phone suck but are manageable. But the beauty in the phone is that some developer will come along and create an app to fix that, it’s really a matter of time.
You can get attachments but only the following types are able to be opened:
JPG, GIF, PNG, TXT, DOC, XLS

I saw the New G2, and from the looks of it, the G1 is less sleek but more pragmatic (keyboard, etc). Who knows though, I’m just always a big fan of the keyboard. I’ve had a chance to play with the G1 that my friend bought, great device, saved my butt in walmart too.
I have signed up for your site. I am really intrigued by the ability to use the G1 for comparison shopping by taking a photo of the product’s bar code. That alone is enough to make me want one.

@Jennae @ Green Your Decor The Barcode scanner apps work even better than taking a picture of the barcodes, they use the phones camera to focus on the barcode in real-time, once it reads it… checks the database for the prices (if available). Thanks for participating

@Purple Penguin We didn’t get as many requests as expected, plus the promotion was for the retail G1 thus limited to US and UK markets.
Actually it is fantastic reviewing Andriod Apps because we feel the website provides a niche and vaule (especially when paid apps hit the Market). The relationships we create with other related Android websites like http://www.Droideo.com, http://www.SpoofApp.com, http://www.GoogleandBlog.com, http://www.LiveCrunch.com, http://www.AndroidGuys.com, etc. (to name a few) are pricesless. Not to mention the developers, http://www.Biggu.com, http://www.Loopt.com, http://www.GasBot.net, http://www.PicSay.com, etc. And it will only grow stronger. (We’re also going to announce more about Guest Writers soon)
