Best Android apps reviewed June 19 – June 25, 2011. Check out the previous week’s best Android apps…
Bug Village
Free
Bug Village is a game from Glu Mobile, well known game developers responsible for games such as Bonsai Blast, Gun Bros and Brain Genius Deluxe. Bug Village, unsurprisingly, puts you in charge of building your own little colony of ants and bees. The game is very very cute as you feed them sugar cubes and cookies, set them tasks and collect acorns. Build homes, create piles to generate resources and add flowers and other decorations. It’s almost too cute.

Flight Control
Free, $2.99
Flight Control. Land planes and avoid collisions for addictive airline action! Keep the skies safe in Flight Control, the insanely addictive worldwide hit! It only takes a minute to learn but you won’t be able to put it down. Guide aircraft to their landing zones but don’t let them collide! Sounds easy? You’ll need smart strategy and keen eyes to alter flight paths as needed and keep the chaos under control. Your travel itinerary is packed with multiple airfields, 10 aircraft including jets and helicopters and stat-tracking. Pack your bags for addictive airline action!
Thumb Keyboard (Phone/Tablet)
~$2.48
Thumb Keyboard (Phone/Tablet) is a flexible keyboard that introduces a revolutionary and innovative “split” layout for Tablets and Phones. A layout that makes thumb-typing easier, more natural and more comfortable. Besides that it is also a standard keyboard with many features one will not find on a regular keyboard.
SpecTrek
Free, ~$2.85
SpecTrek is a spooky, energetic and fun ghost-hunting game. The idea is to move around your physical environment which has now been invaded by ghouls and zap them in your phone sights! SpecTrek is an augmented reality (AR) game, which uses your phones GPS and camera sights, and superimposes images into your natural environment. AR is a simple idea and very effective but, in my mind, notoriously under-developed capability for your phone. SpecTrek is probably one of the best examples of the genre and was a ADC2 prize winner.
i Fishing
Free, ~$3.07
i Fishing is a highly polished fishing simulator game. It is hugely popular on both iPhone and now Android, bringing a realistic fishing experience to your touch-screen without the risk of dropping your phone in a lake.
