Pros
Cons
The Amazon Cloud Player gives you the ability to upload your music into the Amazon Cloud Drive and play it back directly on your device. The Amazon Cloud Player is integrated into the Amazon MP3 application. There is also the added option to download and listen to your music, without the need of a data connection.
Amazon Cloud Player
You must have an Amazon account to get started with the Cloud Player feature, and all Amazon users get 5GB free with the ability to purchase additional storage for about $1 per GB. If you purchase an album, Amazon will graciously bump you up to 20GB at no additional cost.
All new Amazon MP3 purchases are stored for free and do not count against your storage. The advantage is simple: buy music on Amazon and play it back on your device (even PC) without having to transfer it manually (there’s a workaround for Macs & iOS devices with web version). The Amazon Cloud Drive does all the work for you!
Amazon MP3 Store
Amazon MP3 Store allows you to shop by Bestsellers, New Releases, or by Genre; plus enticing you with Free Song of the Day and MP3 Daily Deal Album (full albums for $3.99 reduced cost)! Can’t find your tunes… you can do a search. Once you find the song(s) you’re looking for, you can play a 30 second preview right from the phone. Best for confirming your song before you buy. Using your Amazon account you can easily buy MP3 music from anywhere. Simply tapp the MP3 price once, then tapp “Buy” to confirm and download. There is even a setting to tapp only once and buy if you’ like, a feature called “1-Click® ordering”.
Very useful for those that may have a lot of music that they would like to access from their device. Amazon took the leap over Apple and Google by rolling out a cloud-based music locker service that alleviates the pain of your music being stored in various sources; i.e. your desktop, your laptop, your thumb drive, your phone, your tablet, etc. This solution, for most, would allow one central backup of your music and allow you to stream from various devices… anywhere!
Amazon MP3 Store Android App is one of the coolest in the App Market. Many other Android apps integrate with it; when searching, streaming or playing music you like and want to buy it… such as iMeem and Shazam. The best part is the music is DRM-Free music downloads so you can listen to them on any device without restrictions or extra cost like Apple’s iTunes Store.
On the Cloud Player side, it is fairly simple to use once you upload your music to the Cloud Drive, plus the ability to access and download your music from any capable device. On the MP3 purchasing side, it is very easy to navigate (almost a no brainer). The app is optimized for Search, Preview and Buy. Best of all, you can now play other music stored on your SD card through the MP3 player app (which wasn’t a feature in the past)!
Really depends on your MP3 store vendor loyalty. If you enjoy Amazon’s MP3 store, you’ll definitely frequent it. Depending on how much you listen to music this app can be a life saver.
The Amazon Cloud Player has a very simple, clean, and easy to use interface. Amazon’s branding is clearly noticeable, the buttons and user interface is optimized for mobile shopping.

amazon.com cool man!!!!!!!!
The usability is not that great, e.g.: the requirement to download the the songs via Wifi is broken, I mean the UMTS connection inside the G1 is my primary Internet connectivity.
germany has amazon mp3 now, but this app is not available … wtf amazon?
If I use a JF-ROM and it ISN’T already installed, what Do I do then? Argh…
Registered my language as English, but the selections I am given in Amazon are in Spanish. What gives?
why are the songs 1.29 vice 99 cents….seems too expensive to me.
The added price is because the music is DRM free. Meaning you won’t be restricted on which PC/device you can listen to the songs on. Basically paying a premium to break the copyright restriction legally.
Why don’t I see my purchases in my library? Purchase history shows successful download, no music.
Updated my Droid to 2.1 and the Amazon MP3 app is gone. Don’t see it in the Market either? Did they kill it?
Cliff, I have the same problem, the app worked great until I downloaded the 2.1 update and now the app stopped working and I can’t find it either. :>(
I found it. And I feel very, very silly! It’s renamed to MP3 store! I was using Open Advanced Task Killer one day and saw the icon in the list of what was running. Huh???? After some dumbfounded pauses, I realized it was called MP3 Store now and not Amazon MP3. Makes me wonder if this is true for everyone and nobody noticed!?!?
